    Appraiser?

Anyone on here a professional real estate appraiser or know one that may be willing to trade appraising services for photography services or something through CSC connections?

I need an appraisal done on my home before shelling out for one through a financing company to see if it's even worth going forward for a specific purpose.

If it's a refinance, I believe you have to use the bank's appraiser. Otherwise you can just use your home taxes (it breaks out land and improvement values) or you could check on zillow what they estimate.

Sounds like he wants to do a "cheaper" appraisal on his own first, before shelling out $400+ for the one required by the bank.

+1 on your last property tax assessment, although that might be high. Zillow is an ok reference, but tends to run low. Take the median for a rough estimate, if you aren't lucky finding a cheap appraisal. Also let us know if you do find a cheap appraisal. Might be useful for other folks trying to test the waters before committing to the bank on an app.

Precisely --- I'm looking to get an appraisal BEFORE doing an official one - to see whether I can / should even move forward on the real deal with the bank. If I can't get the right numbers, my game plan is essentially shot.

I'd appreciate if anyone knows someone that might be willing to do this - even if it is an unofficial but as accurate as possible of an appraisal - I'd appreciate it.

For reference - this is for a 203K refinance / home improvement - but the streamline (under $35,000)... not the full.
