    '01 ZX6R throttle shaft seals

Are these bikes prone to having leaking throttle shaft seals, or is it just mine because it lived on a f***ing dirt road?

    What say you?

    Thanks all

Anyone? That was an honest question (maybe I shouldn't have cussed).

I'm looking at a used set of carbs on ebay and am wondering if I'm wasting my money.

Why don't you just replace the seals? It's time-consuming, but not really that hard to do. A few years ago, I had to do it on an '81 Yamaha 550 Seca. I took my time and it turned out fine.

    Stupidity should be painful.

I have no idea how one gets that sort of a problem, but my 2000 ZX-6R didn't have any noticeable issue anywhere in that area after 28,000 miles. I sold it about a year ago.

I would if they were available. Kawi dealer says I have to buy the entire throttle body for $500 (EACH!). I've looked around and haven't been able to find them. I'll check out the link you provided. Hopefully I'll find a match.

Thing is, I also need an idle mixture screw, throttle plate and throttle shaft for the #2 carb. They're so junk that I was just going to replace them. I can get an entire set of carbs used on ebay for $100 - $150. But if I can save these carbs for less by buying parts, I'll probably go that route.

@spideyrdr, good to know. I'm nervous that if i buy a used replacement set, they would have leaking seals too.
