    Question CSC Aftermarket Seat reviews?

I'm sick of the stock seat on my CBR600RR, there are both OEM gel seats and a number of aftermarket gel and "gel-like" seats out there.
I've read a lot of online reviews, but I want to hear it from people here instead of random reviews on the web.

Who here rides with a non-OEM seat, what brand is it, what type is it, and what's your take on whether or how much it's better than the stocker?

    My ass TYIA.

I'm considering the "Spencer Seat Upgrade". Great reviews, fair price, quick turnaround, and won't hold heat like the gel seats. See post#5 here:

    http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forum...ad.php?t=46546

I have (over $400 new I think) Corbin seats (came with the bike), definitely more comfortable than stock for long rides. Short rides you won't notice. BUT, I still don't think they're good enough. Hate to say that because I'm gonna sell them soon. If not on CSC, then Craigs & eBay...

I have a Corbin seat for my 636 and i have absolutely no complaints about it. The material holds up very well and it helped me get through my trip to Cortez which was 1,106 miles in 30 hours.

The next purchase will be the corbin passenger seat for my wife, she says the stock seat isnt too bad but after sitting in the rider seat she thinks a corbin would be much better because it isnt too soft or too firm.

Those Spencer Seats look interesting, but I'd rather not blow all summer on downtime waiting for the seat to ship out, get swapped, then get shipped back. Pity I wasn't smart enough to think of this over winter...

Are those gel seats, or just upgraded foam?

I'm not sure I want to roast my ass all summer when the gel gets nuclear hot, and a frozen gel seat sounds equally miserable...

From what I've read/heard, Spencer has a very quick turnaround, less than a week. As I recall, you call him, work out the timing, and ship it when he's ready.

I've heard the gel seats get hot in the sun as well

Says he only takes 1-2 day turnaround from the time he receives your seat. Ship it to him on a Monday by UPS ground, have it back within a week most likely. Might miss one weekend of riding. Only $75 plus shipping:

Not sure if Corbin has gel, but mine is not its better foam that Is packed in and formed differently to adjust the way you make contact on the seat.

also for what its worth, I have absolutly no ass, so i dont have much self padding, seats that are too firm hurt like hell and seats that are too soft my ass goes right through the padding to the plastic and then its uncomfortable. The corbin seat is just where it should be.

That's my issue, my ass lacks padding, and on longer rides my seat really lacks any comfort or support.

    Re: CSC Aftermarket Seat reviews?

I switched from the stock 09 R6 seat to Yamaha's Comfort Seat and it was a noticeable improvement for long distance.

    http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/ac.../0/detail.aspx

    The difference between the 2:

    Comfort seat:
    - Raises the inseam height - not an issue for me
    - Firmness - the seat is actually a little harder with thicker gel, but it is still better.
    - It has a flatter profile overall and I think that is what makes the real difference.
    - The front has a more pronounced mound for a few inches back from the tank.
    - There is a texture that seems to be "stickier" so you don't move around.
    - The back flaps are a lot thicker than OEM,

I put about 5000 miles total on the OEM seat and after about 200 miles I would get uncomfortable. I have done ~1000 miles in 3 days on the comfort seat without issues.

    Re: CSC Aftermarket Seat reviews?

I have a Sargent seat for the 2000 Sprint ST that made a world of difference over the stock seat. My wife forgot how bad the stock seat was until we rode it to G-Force to buy my new Concours14 a couple of weeks ago. On our ride last weekend she thought the Concours seat was much better than the Sargent but then the Concours is made more for two up riding than a 13 y.o. (6/99 build date) Sprint. I anticipate getting a Sargent for the Concours in a couple of years, the stock foam doesn't seem to last much longer than that and I am not a fan of how stock always seem to slope into the tank.

I guess that I need to sell the Sargent now that I don't have the Sprint anymore.

I have a Renazco and like it a lot. Not sure if they make sportbike seats, but if they do, it's a solid buy.

I have the factory gel seat from kawi on my C14. Yes, it's a nice seat, however, it does NOT like temp swings, i.e. it gets hard in cold and HOT when the temps rise. I needed a seat that was lower than factory, and this was before I knew about http://gowestseats.com or the other companies that do work like that. Sargent and Corbin make seats for that bike, but they were more expensive. I'm still planning on having Alex cover/reshape my stock seat at some point. So far I've put in about 28k on the gel seat and it's held up well.

    Re: CSC Aftermarket Seat reviews?

corbins are actually harder than the stock seats. but because they are shaped right, they offer more support and your ass wont get sore so fast. if you like to hit the twisties hard, keep in mind that the corbin is wide (feels like a tractor seat at 1st) and the sides are high. these 2 qualities are great for distance rides, butmake it hard to move around in the seat. sliding back and forth is a bit difficult. you actually have to lift your ass a bit and sit on the edge, with the high part of the seat right in your crack. while that keeps in in one spot, it isnt the most comfortable cornering position

2000 tillis plus stuff with some polished stuff and some carbon fiber stuff and a little bit of tlr stuff and some gsxr stuff

Guess that rules those out then, as I definitely move around quite a bit in the canyons, and I'm not packing both seats just to swap...

I found the Sargent (on the Sprint at least) to be a pretty good compromise between the narrow factory seat with pillow foam and a friends Corbin that I tried. Definitely a stiffer foam than the stock seat but not as hard as the Corbin and width was between them as well.

I have a Sargent seat as well and I'm glad I made that investment. After a couple hours on the stock seat I was ready to be off the bike. On the Sargent I can easily double the time before I need stretch my legs.

Apparently they don't make 600RR seats unless you do the custom made mail-in/mail-back service...

Saddlemen Seats seems to make a bunch of sport bike seats, but they all seem to have a Gel core, so I'm betting they're just as prone to ass-heating in the summer as any other Gel...

Yeah I was surprised that Sargent doesn't have seats for your bikes. That's why I recommended the Spencer.
