    Ducati Diavel Test Ride

Being a subscriber to Cycle World Magazine, I was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to participate in a Cycle World / Ducati Diavel test ride last Saturday. It was held at Front Range Airport in Broomfield. They took 10 riders at a time and first gave us a video presentation of the Diavel features and design concepts.

The bike was selected as Cycle World's "10 Best" in the cruiser category, although Ducati doesn't call it a cruiser. It was a pretty cool bike. It has 3 ride modes, Urban (100 hp, Ducati Traction Control), Touring (162 hp and mild DTC) and Sport (162 hp and no DTC). It was very comfortable to ride and I was very surprised how little the wind bothered me even at almost triple digit speed.

We went for an hour long ride up Coal Creek Canyon and back to the Airport. We were encouraged to play with the DTC and get a good feel for the bikes power. It was the best test ride I've ever gotten to do. I even got the "Starting Grid" picture with a Ducati Umbrella Girl.

It was a lot of fun and I was impressed with the bike, but unfortunately the Duck is a bit out of my price range.

Great power. I guess I glossed over the handling because I'm so used to my own bikes I felt a bit awkward to begin with. For those of you that have ridden with me, you know I'm not a canyon-carving demon. I think I remember them saying in the presentation that the Diavel was capable of handling a 41 degree lean angle. I wouldn't know. The Diavel will definitely get out and go when you want it to. I had one really good opportunity to get going and was up in the nineties pretty quick. For me, the reach to the bars was just a bit long. Maybe I've got short arms. Or maybe I'm just short.

Anyway, if I was going to buy a Duck, I'd have to consider the Diavel. More so after my test ride. My 1st choice after winning the PowerBall would be the Panigale, and my sensible choice would probably be a Monster 1100. I think the Diavel certainly has the handling and power, and additionally, would be comfortable long after my hands went numb on the Panigale.

My comment isn't mean, it's a mathematical certainty. Have you seen real umbrella girls?

Whether or not there are "hotter" umbrella girls is irrelevant.

This young lady is a model hired by Ducati for this event. I don't know if she's from Denver or somewhere else traveling with the demo. The demo was in Chicago the week before and Connecticut the week before that. The point is, this is a public forum, not a bar table with your friends. There is a chance this girl is related to someone on this forum or will read the posts. A Google search of "Ducati Diavel Demo" would probably find this thread. I just don't see a reason to be petty and demeaning to someone you don't know. If she was your daughter would you like hearing the comments that were made?

Maybe you should post pics of yourselves in Speedos on here and let us all comment.

+1. She like all women, is someone's daughter, someone's most dear, and she looks as though she would knock herself out to please someone who will let her please him. There is so much joy, so much life in her heart for the generous man who has the kindness and appreciation for a marvel of nature.

Please. Don't do the speedos on here. Really. Please. Don't do it.

    Especially Jmetz. (shudder)

I'm sure she made you feel special. I on the other hand don't take meager amounts of money for going around dressing like a ho-bag, since she does - she opens herself up to criticism, positive or otherwise.

Maybe she has a tampon you can borrow?

And yes Grim, her rack appears to be fairly outstanding, hence the brown paper bag and not something with more coverage.
