    Best street pants?

I'm curious what you guys wear on a daily basis or what you take when you go out on the twisties. I think I'd like something more than just kneed pads, but need to go as far as full leathers with knee sliders. What are you guys rockin and what suggestions might you have for somebody looking to buy a pair.

Commutes and short town rides: Carhartt double front jeans. Same 14-15oz denim as those so called riding jeans costing 2x.

The so called riding jeans are lined with kevlar...

I wear these and like the style and safety. Ordered them through 303.

    Re: Best street pants?

Unless they're lined completely in kevlar they are of limited "safety". I went down in a pair of Draggin Jeans, with kevlar in the knees and hips; guess where the jeans ripped and I got road rash.. yup, the non kevlar parts. My Carhartts are the duck denim ones, almost like canvas.

    YMMV etc etc

    Re: Best street pants?

For commuting and jaunts in the canyon I would go with above suggestions. In the twisties...for the spirited pace stuff I would go with the jeans mentioned above, but if you plan on possibly picking up the spirit in an already spirited ride... I would go with the leather.

I like these a lot but I'm pretty sure they are discontinued, because I cannot find a 32 or 34 anywhere

IMO these will protect better than the jeans. Nylon is more abrasion reistant than denim.

    Re: Best street pants?

Nylon and kevlar have a tendency to get very warm in a slide, nylon will melt to your skin and kevlar will transfer the heat very efficiently to the skin, leaving burns instead of the rash until it wears through.
If you want effective protection you need leather.

    Re: Best street pants?

I wear a pair of leather pants over a pair of jeans or short depending on the weather & occasion. I bought a size bigger than I wear normally and they fit perfectly over a pair of pants. They do squeeze the shit out of my balls if they arent positioned right but I usually make sure they are before I get on the bike.

I, for some reason, do very well in the heat and even in my opinion I get hot and sweaty but it's drop-in-the-bucket compared to a skin-graph...

Go to the MOTOPORT web site and check out there real kevlar pants. They do NOT transfer heat in a slide and are many times stronger than leather. Also the only textile clothing approved for G.P. racing.
I have a pair of there stretch kevlar pants for 6 years. THEY ARE THE BEST!

    Re: Best street pants?

I know of no professional racing organization (much less GP) that has approved kevlar for road racing. Just saying. Now the odd track day at some local tracks perhaps. Just sayin'
