Thumbs up BMW HP4 S1000RR - Any guesses what this will set you back?!

    Damn... Daddy like...

    http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/3/1390...irst-Look.aspx

BMW Motorrad has unveiled its first four-cylinder HP model, the 2013 HP4. Based on the one of MotoUSA’s favorite sportbikes of all time, the S1000RR, the HP4 is a continuation of the HP model series founded in 2005 by the HP2 boxer enduro. Tipping the scales at five pounds less than the standard S100RR, this new model gets a host of upgraded parts, but most notable is the addition of Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) that BMW claims is a world first for production motorcycles.
    The goodies:
A summary of the HP4 technical highlights:
    • Fork bridge with engraved number and HP4 logo.
    • Lightest four-cylinder 1000cc sportbike available
    • Innovative suspension with Dynamic Damping Control DDC.
    • Race ABS with IDM setting.
    • Dynamic Traction Control DTC with fine adjustment in "Slick" mode.
    • Launch Control.
    • Adapted wheelie detection.
    • New rear tire size -200/55 ZR 17.
    • Shift assistant as standard.
    • Light titanium exhaust system with controlled acoustic valve and ?interference pipe.
    • Forged light alloy wheels, anodized in black.
    • Radial monoblock brake calipers by Brembo with special brake pads.
    • Extended, dual-section engine spoiler.
    • LED turn indicators.
    • Tinted windshield.
    • Lighter 7 Ah battery.
    • Performance-oriented engine set-up.
    • Increased torque in the medium engine speed range.

    HP4 with Competition Package:
    • Long, closed engine spoiler made of carbon.
    • Sponsor sticker kit included.
    • Wheels in Racing blue metallic.
    • HP Carbon badge carrier.
    • HP Carbon tank cover.
    • HP brake lever, hinged.
    • HP clutch lever, hinged.
    • HP rider footrest system, adjustable.

    Pricing and availability TBD.

Well... if it's anything like the HP2 Sport, I wouldn't be surprised to see a $30K price tag.

The normal S1000RRs do this as well. I remember when I took one out for a demo ride, the guy giving the run down on the bike told me that if I wanted to try it, the front end would only come up a bit before the bike would put the front wheel down.

Seeing as I don't have the skills to wheelie a dining room chair, I chose not to test this feature.

Maybe I should have said Tricolore. And take into account it comes with a Ti exhaust. But yeah...

I did a demo day at Foothills, they had 2 RR demos when they first launched. Showed up, got a run down of the bike and told to follow the map that was taped to the tank.

Go over to Foothills BMW or BMW of Denver. I'm sure one of them will have a demo model.

Now, if only one of these shops would start selling KTMs so I could take a 990SMT out for a spin, I'd be happy...

AFAIK, the wheelie preventer can be turned off rather easily.

    But launch control? WOW.

    I want this bike.
