How the state can force you to have a sticker to use FEDERAL land and have it hold up in court is beyond me. I was told it was challenged somewhere and upheld but I have no supporting information.

    My Budget really was about 2k range.. I might be able to stretch that a little so please keep that in mind.

    I'll sell my 2001 KTM EXC 300 for that, but it is a 2 stroke.
    It is titled, and has near new tires but does need fork seals.
    My wrist surgery is not recovered enough for trail riding this year.

    Since everyone seems to be on board the plated wagon, I'm gonna chime in for the very small "not plated" crowd.
    I've been riding trail bikes for almost 20 years. I've done the "bikes in the back of the truck" routine for many years, and the "trailer behind the suv" for many years, which is my current setup. I always have a current OHV sticker, and wouldn't have it any other way. Whether it's a day ride above Central City, or a camp trip to Moab, it's nice having room to bring whatever you want and have an easy, comfortable drive home.

    As for bikes...my current one is a 2004 Kawi KLX300R-4-stroke. Light, not too tall, great suspension, comfy seat, good power, very reliable, and many years in production, with no mechanical changes (1997-2007).

    The WR250 on there I have talked to the guy. Its not plated and has no title, so I would have to plate it if I wish.. Same question one some of those bikes.. is a 400-450 to much bike for a guy like me?

    I have one, we could be KLX buddies. no homo.

    LOL.. I suppose I will get bored of it someday, but not yet. It's small enough to play on the trails and the six speed is actually usable on pavement. Slower than the WR250s though.

    Go side it and see. It may be a little lacking at higher speeds, but will be more forgiving on the dirt.

    to ride OHV trails all you need is an OHV sticker available at any mc shop that sells dirt bikes. if you want to make a bike titled and street bike i would recommend buying an untitled bike put on DOT approved tires, a horn, working brakelight(most trail bikes come with a tail light that always stay on, all you need is a switch that makes it brighter when you apply the rear brake) and a horn. you dont need turn signals but if they are on your bike they must work. at that point youll need to call your local CSP station and schedule an inspection. they will give you the paper work you need to take to the DMV to title your bike and get plates. with good tires, those mods will run you about 400 bucks. depending on your skill, you should be able to install everything yourself. i believe youll need a stronger stater to run a horn but im not sure.

    you just have to respect the power of the dirty on the trails and youll be fine. i would also reccomend you find a four stroke for trails because of their fuel economy

    Yep 9v.. I'm not sure a 400 would suit me.. I'm not a heavy guy 145 lbs but 6foot 3
