    600 vs 1000

So on my way home on 6th ave
I was fallowing a fellow bike thought the construction and we finally broke out of it and he was moving well i was about 5 to 8 lengths behind for he seemed to be slowing then speeding up

So normally when in a car its someone wanting to see if you can go so i start to creep up on him 4th gear 65mph around 5 to 6 k and when i got to about 3 to 5 lengths you can tell he down shifted and from the sound got on it so i just roll the throttle out and passed him in about 3 to 5 sec

Is a 1000 really that much faster then a 600 his was a Newer R6(current gen) with at least a bolt exhaust. I only ask for a car from a roll a slower car will pace a faster car if he gets the jump and has lengths on him for a lil bit unless the car is just that much more built never really have looked at bikes in racing like this except for the 1/4 drag
I felt like this was a r34 racing a stock civic in this instance and if he sees this i by no means mean this as a diss i was shifting at 10k and only shifted once

please note i am not out looking to drag just curious everyone once in a while get in those moments and sometimes you gas and sometimes you just watch them speed off

From a dig it's the rider, from a roll it's the displacement.

They're not THAT much faster but a 1000 will definitely pull especially up top.

    Re: 600 vs 1000

All depends on the rider. There are plenty of people who ride 600's (or less)that will literally walk away from other people on 1000's. It's humbling.

Well you are talking 400cc more and roughly 40hp or more in statistics but yea the rider skill counts too

It is definitely the experience that creates the skills needed to handle a bike.

    Re: 600 vs 1000

While i understand the difference of HP, skill needed to go in a straight line is minimal

I was just surprised by how quick i was able to match and pass i thought i would chase him for a bit for the jump he had on me plus the length. i thought our 60 to 100 time is close to a 600 so thats why i thought it would be different.

    Re: 600 vs 1000

and Joe you had a slightly smaller lead after that turn then he had on me but you put distance between you too for a bit then the 1000 ran up on you. i basically watch him down shift and start to move a bit and blow by him in half that time. i do bet you are a better rider then the guy on the r6 but this was just a straight line shot just throttle

    Re: 600 vs 1000

he probably didnt downshift enough, a 600 on the street out of the powerband at this altitude is gutless. even if he did grab second, a cbr1k sitting at 6k would walk it

    Re: 600 vs 1000

I know he hooked cause he started to pull away that's when i hit WOT on him and just flew by. I know only true way is to mess around with people on the street but i rather not do that thanks for all the input kinda answers my questions on 600 vs 1000 from a roll

150 pound rider on 600cc VS 250 pound rider on 1000cc ... Odds are almost equal from dead start.

Try a 2012 s1krr. I went on a 400 mile ride and few weeks ago, and WoT I was walking away from R1s and GSXR 1ks like nothing. The 600s were standing still.

    Re: 600 vs 1000

The BMW has 178hp, a CBR 1000 has ~150, a CBR 600RR has ~105, all the weights are close enough that it doesn't matter, and the S1000RR will run a 9.X 1/4 mile stock...so...yeah...not really a surprise that it'll walk anything else under the sun...

Read the latest Sport Rider for the liter bike comparo, the S1kRR kills everything else in its class for sheer speed...

In the canyons or on a tight track, sure, 600s with fast riders can embarrass 1000s with slow riders. Otherwise, if you've got equal talent, or you're just dragging off the light or rolling on at speed, bike-to-bike the 1k will kill any 600...trust me, I'm the lone 600 in a pack of my buddies' 1ks most of the time...

Power to weight ratio...1K will walk all 600's in the straights. That was not a lot of bike lengths at all...Give him a quarter mile then you might have to work for it.
