Picked one up today. It's pretty sweet for android\ios but it only runs 720p off Chrome, which is kind of disappointing since you can play local content with Chrome. Also, sucks they cut off the netflix deal. I bought it before they did that but haven't gotten a code so now apparently I need to complain. I have high hopes once the devs get some time to play with it and start throwing some hacks out there.

Time Warner Cable Just Removed CBS and Showtime

How does a cable company remove a national network and expect people to pay $80+ a month for it?

Only thing cable has left is the live sports and I know more than a few people the cancel their services during the off season. But even that is going to the web. AMA put all their races up on YouTube now. SBK has a subscription service. How long do you think the NFL will wait to get in on that direct pay action?

I couldn't even find NASCAR online last weekend. With the revenue contracts such that they are, it'll be a LONG time before the NFL risks diluting the value of the media contracts by making streaming available. Not that it won't happen eventually, but my bet is 10+years. AMA had to put their races online because they can't get a large enough following anywhere else to get television contracts.

If AMA puts it on youtube that's good. The above post made it sound like SBK has a legal subscription service....

Nice, I'll check into that and see if I can find one cheap, thank

Right not I have just been using a external HD put directly into my TV because I got so annoyed by PS3's Cinavia: don't they realize some people rip their DVD's onto a HD instead of using the disk.

Re: So you're done paying for a cable box...

I got away from Comcast when I bought a house and got DirecTV, I couldnt get it at my apartment because we faced the wrong way.

Something I really dislike about DirecTV vs Comcast is when you are searching for TV shows Comcast shows the season and episode (example: S3, Ep13) so if my dvr screws up I know what the next episode is and if I've seen it before. DirecTV doesnt do anything like that, DirecTV only shows the year (2013) and you have to go itno each episode and then it will tell you when it first aired but that's it.

Anyone else know what I am talking about that knows how to see Season/Episode on DirecTV???

I'm not sure what the chromecast offers, but I've been able to stream pretty much whatever I want from my iPad to my TV for some time.

Through DirecTV Ipad app or another way? I use the DTV free app and lets me watch all my channels on my Ipad. Would be cool to learn how to stream files from my PC, but thought I needed a Apple desktop for that (I am still new to Apple)

No, I don't have DirecTV, I just have basic basic cable. I just stream from websites.

Damn. So do you stream to Ipad from HD on other devices? Like movies saved on your laptop or PC?

Nah I just stream to the TV from the ipad. I rarely use my computers anymore. Just about anything you want to watch can be found and able to stream directly.

Been streaming websites off my laptop to my 48" HDTV across the room with a 25' HDMI cable (Microcenter 15$) for some time now. There are wireless options coming online all the time.

I work for DIRECTV, so it's free for me, but if it wasn't free I wouldn't pay for it. So much stuff online and with an antenna these days...
