Well some of use are yearly supporters or lifetime supporters, so we do try to not free load too much and contribute a little to the club.
Yup, very little is free nowadays! You may use a open channel, but it goes both ways and people can then see your stuff then.
Now why does my internet show as open when I search for it, but then you get on and it asks for my password to let you in; takes you to a internet page to enter it. Why doesn't it showed locked right away?
EDIT: think it is because I have it set up as a guest account which is seperate from my main account. Can anyone confirm?

Aaron climbs on soapbox.
It's not that I have questionable interpretation, it's because we simply don't have time to press charges on someone who is stealing the neighbor's internet. Some cities do. We call those places nice, and appropriately staffed. My city is neither. But there's a group of cops who bust their ass 4 days a week trying to make it just a little better. The other day I was en route to a domestic fight, and another Officer had a traffic stop where he wanted another car. So I casually get on the radio "325 hold this call we'll cover." We held a domestic fight because we don't have enough cops to cover another cop whose stopping a bunch of gangsters. It's routine for us, and it's a shame. So ya when the relatively minor neighbor disputes come in, we clear them as quickly as possible with as little paperwork as possible.
So I'd tell the RP, lock your internet, here's how.
Gangsters in co??? BLAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Depends....
Could be you have the newer routers with the guest and secured networks but thought those show up as two different SSID
Could be the type of authentication you have setup with show up as open but then pass you on to somewhere for authentication like a radius or Cisco gateway server. You log in and agree to be good and whatnot and white lists you mac address (or cookies you) for a set amount of time.
What model router? Who set it up?

Ok so they're wannabe's, but they still cause problems and don't like the words "Turn around, hands behind your back."
On a side note, and very off-topic I know, I took a trip down to the ghetto and scored a Direct TV dish for $30. Not too bad, lower than I had budgeted for. Ok, I'm ready for the next flame war about whether it's stolen or not, and if so why I'm purchasing stolen goods!

No one likes those words.
I kinda do actually ;-)
However most people that hear them do as they're told, however unhappy they may be about it. Gangsters tend to not do as they're told.
And hippies! Damn hippies!
Ya them too!!! And those damn community activists too!
Wow, really?
Out of everyone on here, there is no one that pays attention to the actual legality of this question?
The only thing that would make this illegal in CO, would be the ISP's Terms of Service.
Use of an unsecured network has not been deemed illegal. Intrusion into a secured network, despite being easy, is NOT legal.
