Wow, an old CL350. Considering its age, it is in incredibly good condition! Congrats on the "new" bike

No not quite. It is marked at redline 10.5 which is still pretty impressive for a parallel twin that is 44 years old. I does need quite a bit of work but nothing too serious. I will probably fix it up and sell it but I am afraid that I might fall in love with it. It is so small and makes such good power that it is just a little blast. Maybe a KLR tour pack on the back and make it a grocery getter.

It is very different and a lot the same.

I can't say it handles any better than the GS but has a more positive feel. That is probably due to the telelever front end on the BMW. I think it will be quite comparable to the BMW off road and maybe even a little better, not that these big DS bikes are off road bikes, but lots of dirt roads and 4x4 roads have been and will be ridden on it.

The seat is lower than the BMW and being vertically challenged as I am, makes stopping a lot more comfortable.

I think it has more low end torque than the BMW and the power is a blast. The exhaust note is intoxicating and very Ducati like.

In certain RPM ranges it has a lot more vibration than the BMW but that is only at very low RPM's. Running it over 4K RPM it is smooth as glass.

The ABS seems to be a bit behind the BMW as I was able to lock the rear wheel riding it home last night, but then again it did not try and throw me over the bars. LOL:

Maintenance intervals are about the same and still very easy to do.

I will be taking the course on how to run all the switches and computer readouts, WOW it has lots of stuff I probably will never use.

That's a badass bike Lomax! Love the color scheme too. My buddy has a very nice CB750. I think it's a 1977?

The metallurgy that we use today, with few changes, was developed between WWI and the end of WWII, as were calculations for peak piston G loading based on the metalurgy. So, it's not too surprising, it's all just a matter of bore vs. stroke. Honda had that 6-cylinder 250 4-stroke (RC166) that rev'd to about 18kRPM.

Nice Stelvio Marc. Looking forward to devouring some miles with you this coming riding season. I think my wonderful basso profundo Ducati - Ferracci exhaust note will pair nicely with the new studly Italian you are piloting.

Here is the definition from Merriam-Webster dictionary:
    Origin of BASSO PROFUNDO

Italian, literally, deep bassFirst Known Use: 1853

Hay, the F'n definition has its origins in Italy. And we all know Merriam was a sultry bitch !!
