Anyone have the ability to remove a lower triple bearing race? I was told I need an acetyline torch to do it.
Thanks!!

Are you talking about the race in the head stem or on the triple clamp itself? The one in the head can be pushed out with a drift.

The one that is actually on the tripple clamp. I got the ones in the steering head out pretty easy.

I've done both mine and Kim's lower tripple and the race came off by itself. If yours is pressed on, try a gear puller if you can get the claw under the race. Otherwise, it's probably a blow torch.Originally Posted by Devaclis";p="229070

Yeah, a gear puller will not work. There is no place at the bottom of the race to insert a tool. It will need to be torched off. I just need to find someone who can do it

You can lock the triple in a vise and just use a chisel to knock it off.

I tried that a little last night with no success, I am afraid to bend the center tripple post. Maybe I will try it again this evening. I can always just buy another lower if I destroy this one.
