    2012-13 Progressive International Motorcycle Shows

Anyone ever attended one of these events? Looks like a great way to check out the latest tech and models.

No Denver stop, but a quick flight to Dallas could be in the cards.

I miss the IMS shows, I especially miss the ones that were held up in Copper Mountain. Test rides were fun up there.

I went to the one in DC back in January. http://www.flickr.com/photos/stevean...7628968832857/

Had a good time, think I enjoyed the vintage bikes more than anything. The stunt bike performance was kinda weak, but I certainly enjoyed the overall show.

Unfortunately we dont have enough riders (at least that go to shows) here in Colorado. This came right from an IMS rep that I talked to at the Indy Dealer Expo a few years ago. There was just not enough attendance to support the Denver stop Being near the holidays didn't help but we will never know if a different schedule would have made enough of a difference

The Copper Mountain events were Cyclefest and had nothing to do with IMS. However they met the same fate of not being financially viable. If you look back at the history of national motorcycle events in Colorado, the only event to last longer than 2 or 3 years has been the Thunder Valley motocross national. While the loss of the Superbike race was tied to the failure of the original PPIR I was there a couple times and there were nowhere near enough paying spectators to keep it going.

If they didn't have their heads up their asses they'd come during the summer and offer the test rides they offer everywhere else... Then I'm sure it'd more than support the stop.

I hear what you are saying but the main purpose of this series of shows is to introduce the new models to the public. That dictates the November - February time frame, Summer demos would be showcasing the models going away. That said some manufacturers do have demo trucks in the summer.

Granted, but they tend to have one stop in Denver in the middle of the day during the week if they stop by CO. I'd have loved to stop by and see some of the demo trucks this summer, but I couldn't due to the fact that I have to make a living somehow.

+1 I missed having the Duc truck and Triumph Demo Truck this year... and yet they did have the Victory Demo truck and Suzuki Demo Days at Fay & Grand Prix this summer, so not all manufacturers are staying away.

You would think Colorado would be able to pull in a crowd, if Michigan, minnesota can to have shows. A Colorado show I would think would pull people from NM,utah, wyoming, neb. But I guess money talks for bottom line.
