No bike, no ride, no membership. My $.02

My love for all things two wheels is one of the main reasons my wife and I moved to the Rocky Mountains. You've heard of 318 curves in 11 miles? My neck of the woods has 11 curves in 318 miles, not exactly a sportbike riders dream.

For the most part, the level of rider here is far above the skill level back home. And since I still stink of noob it has recently been brought to my attention that somewhere in the neighborhood of half of the Colorado Sportbike Club members do not own bikes. What The FCK!!!

So after a day or two of thinking about this, Ive come to terms with it. There are some who are between bikes, i.e. have sold their bike and are shopping for another. I can empathize, in the last 20 years there have been spans lasting a full season where my garage housed only cages because I was "between bikes". For the record, I borrowed and rented that year to get my fix. Some are lucky enough, or better yet, fast enough, to be racing on someone else's equipment, man I envy you.

But if you dont own a bike, and dont ride, why are you here?

You moved to co for the riding? I bet that was a little disappointing.

So because people are between bikes they shouldnt be able to talk and communicate with friends they have made? Lots of people dont even live in co anymore. Should they not be on here as well?

How about the level of the rider? Should all squids be barned? I mean the risk of a newb jeopardizing a ride is very high. So why invite them into this club.

Btw this is not a mc club. REAL mc clubs have real organizing factors. Decisions are club votes. This is a forum with a name that is entertaining and a great place to get useful information. Some of that info coming from people without bikes at the moment.

    The Townie makes a point...

I'm moving to Maryland in a couple of weeks. I'll still have a bike. Am I no longer allowed to visit or post on the CSC?

IMO, the CSC is NOT a bike club. It's a social network. So some don't ride anymore or "right now". Some don't have sport bikes but rather cruisers/ADV'ers/sumos/whatever. Doesn't mean they're not interested in the goings on of the CSC. I'm not even convinced that some of our tard owners even know how to read, but we still let them in... as long as they wear a helmet.

Maybe we need to consider disallowing members that eat too much corn.

You may not currently be an owner, but you are a rider, and will again be an owner.

Not at all, I admit my noobness. Just asking the question and opening it for conversation.

Many of us have extra bikes to make up for the poor bastards without.

I think they stay for the hot chick thread and the sarcasm.

Used to be for the IT'S FORKIN FRIDAY! and the cat threads but all that's gone now.

After 8+ years of Administering the biggest car/racing forum in Colorado, I believe CSC to be an awesome forum, better than many in other states, for this specific purpose (non-model-specific Motorcycle & Riding discussion). The mix here is great as well, between expertise, regulars, racers, weekend warriors, n0obs, etc.

We are lucky here in Colorado to have two awesome forums like this. I've been told this by many out-of-staters and locals who've moved and been totally disappointed by the car & bike forums in their new state.

I don't live near any of you and I don't own a sportbike (but I do own a bike). Further, I'm not going to go on any organized rides, or to one of the bike nights. For me, this place is more of a social network and place to have fun. I joined when I did have a sportbike or two, and made a bunch of real life, and e-friends. So now it's fun to hang out and have a little friendly banter. Hell, I don't think I've ever even met Salsa, but we've joked around for a few years now on the forum.

This place has been great for social networking, buying/selling stuff locally, hiring professional services, professional networking, finding ways to volunteer and help the community, and also gain knowledge about bikes and riding in general. Seems like a good place to hang out, if you ask me.

Who cares why people are here? No need to judge (except all of the freakin' (re)tards. Those morons have to go!). +1 with Zach

That is awesome! I'd never do it, seems too dangerous for the little guy. But might be cool around town at low speeds. Bengals are rad.
