Corner Crew for MRA PPIR Double Header

A Reminder of our next event:

MRA Racing at PPIR -- 2-5 Sept --

    Double-Header Labor Day weekend!

    Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR)

2 Sep Fri - Open Practice
3 Sep Sat - Open Practice / Endurance Races
4 Sep Sun - MRA Raceday #7 (Full Race Schedule)
5 Sep Mon - MRA Raceday #8 (Full Race Schedule)

Show time for all days is: 7:00 am

*** We need all the cornerworkers we can get!! ***

This event will cover FOUR days.

We need people for both Friday and Saturday practice days,
and both full race days on Sunday-Monday.

If you can't work all days that's fine too,
we'll still use your help for whichever days you can be there.

Racer practice all day Friday Sept 2 and morning of Saturday Sept 3.
Racing starts Saturday after lunch with two endurance races, and the day finishes with SuperMoto action through PPIR's infield section. Saturday is also double points.

Sunday's racing will be the normal schedule,
and Monday will be running a full race schedule as well.

With so much riding back to back putting a strain on riders and machines, this weekend may shake up some points standings. And PPIR is one of
our most technical courses, so this should be an exciting event.
-- It should be a lot of fun to watch!

Please let us know if you'll be there -- and which days!!.
(or if not, please tell us also) -- Email preferred, phone OK too.

    More info below:
    • -- Where to meet
      -- Lodging
      -- Directions to the track
      -- 2005 Schedule

If you have any questions; call, or send an Email

Hope all of you can be there!!

WHERE TO MEET AT THE TRACK

On all MRA event days you should be able to drive into the track facility.
We meet at the base of the media and scoring tower at the north end of the Pits. Look for the big gray MRA Van and a bunch of people dressed in white.

    ------------------------------------
    LODGING:

--If you wish to stay in a hotel/motel, the MRA will reimburse each person up to $35 for lodging. For this weekend it includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. If you share a room with one or two people this will usually cover your expenses. This is a reimbursement only, up to a maximum of $35 per person. For example, if 4 people share a room and the cost of the room was $90, the reimbursement will be $90, not $140.
I've had luck finding good priced rooms using www.orbitz.com
--Search for Fountain, Pueblo and Colorado Springs. Pueblo is about the same distance from as it is from south Colorado Springs and the rooms are much lower priced in Pueblo.

--You can also camp at the track. Self-contained in your van, pickup, trailer or motor home (but no tents). There are showers in the south pit garage building.

    -----------------------------------
    DIRECTIONS TO THE TRACK:

PPIR is next to I-25 a few miles south of Fountain, CO.
They have their own exit. --Take the southernmost exit (#122).

Turn right onto the road in front of the administrative and service building, follow it through the tunnel under the track into the pit area.

Come on out and cornerwork guys! PPIR is a fun track to work, the (free) lunch isn't bad, and this is a big racing weekend for the MRA!

NOVICES, YOU HAVE SCANT TIME LEFT TO WORK OFF YOUR HOURS. IF YOU WANT YOUR POINTS STANDINGS AND RACE RESULTS TO COUNT (THIS INCLUDES BEING ELIGIBLE FOR MOVES TO EXPERT) YOU NEED TO GIVE THE MRA 4 HOURS OF YOUR TIME! If you have worked them but have not had your card signed by me, that is the same as not working at all. Get it signed! If you don't know what I'm talking about, see Aurora for a card.
