I rarely think of motorcycles without a little yearning. They are about moving, and humans, I think, yearn to move – it’s in our cells, in our desires. We quiet our babies with cyclic movement, and we quiet ourselves by going.

I'm In still need to close out the ninja from last year.

Just bringing this back up, I am really sad that I have only done 11058 miles so far. I will get a few commutes in this week but I will be surprised if I add 500 miles
I'm ~6600 miles and still counting, but to be fair, I've only had the bike since the middle of June.

Total for the year on other people's bikes about 2500 miles, which sucks for me given I used to put over 15k a year easily....

2013: 10,000
I didn't get as much riding in this year due to busy at work and building a new house and then moving in the prime riding season this year. I also picked up a 2nd bike two months ago, a 09 FZ-1. I've done 3 or 4 rides to Deckers and Evergreen so far, then it started snowing.
I don't think I took a picture this year but on my honor I swear to it's authenticity!

Well, I was a little short of my "goal" but I did a lot of riding for sure on an SS bike in 12 months I think. In all honesty I haven't ridden in about 3 1/2 weeks at all! I'm riding to work tommorow for sure though. So I'll make it roughly 8300 miles for the year, since I'll be flying out for the holidays next week and won't be back until the first week of 2014. Great year of riding..high point was the Devil's Spine run, I'm down to do it again this spring!
P.S. I bought this bike in August of 2012 and it had just a tick over 7000 miles on it from new to 2012 (6+ years) and I've put over 10k miles on it in 16 months!

I managed about 7,000 despite having to do a lot of repair on the bike in the Spring and Fall, that's probably more than I've ridden in all my past years combined. 2014 should be much better!
Edit, fixed a typo

You've never put 700,000 on your bike in a year?
I've got more flavor than a packet of macaroni.
Pffff come on, who hasn't put 700,000 miles.

I totaled the FZ1 on January 11, and didn't ride on the street again until mid-June, so I only have about 6500 miles so far this year, maybe another 300 by the end of the year depending on how much snow we get.
Thanks, Jim

Just for fun I did a little math with that 700,000 miles. If it was possible to ride 24/7/365 you would have to average 80 MPH for the year to get 700k. Using a more "realistic" 16 hours a day of riding you would have to average 120MPH for those 16 hours every day for a year to get to 700k. No, I am not going to try it...
