The racing is a blast, I did it many years ago on a quad. While the racing was fun I got burned out after one season of hitting the road at 5 AM to get there, sitting in the truck most of the day to try to stay warm, and for all that I got 2 practices that were maybe a minute or two and a race that was about 5 minutes. To be fair I was racing with the (now defunct) Colo All Terrain Racing Assn and Harry's could be different.

It looks like the quads are not spiked like the two wheelers.

Considering where they are parked I wonder if those are work quads from the promoter? I know when I raced I was fully studded but there were bare tire classes

They had both bare and studded classes for bikes and quads. I'm guessing the quads, even if studded, were slipping more due to number of tires, and tire width, unable to concentrate that weight on the ice like the bikes.

They'll be racing again this Sunday. It doesnt say on their site except the downloadable flyer that spectators and riders are charged a $10 entry fee. No biggie, unless you missed that flyer and forgot to bring cash. They also had a couple of food vendors. No alcohol is allowed.

As far as the amount of racing, it looked like riders got plenty. I saw the same bikes quite a few times. They kept the pace going too, only stopping for a 30 min lunch intermission. Started at 0600 and finished around 3pm. It was organized pretty well.

Are the front and rear fenders to protect other riders?

Yes they are, a studded tire will shred off road gear and flesh quicker than you can react.

My fam and I were going to try to go to this, but COMPLETELY spaced it and missed it... It's been YEARS since I've been to the ice races, and the VERY FIRST TIME I ever rode a motorcycle, was when I was 4 on a Honda Fat Kat. I remember as soon as my dad told me how to go and stop, I took off. Went off a pile of snow on the ice and got a little air, with my dad yelling at me because he wasnt done telling me how to ride..... wound up having to get off for the rest of the day. It was WORTH IT though.

I'll have to remember to check out the link when I get home, cant see FB links here at work....

Any work on when the next event is?
