Hey Clovis, can you please update the original post with all the details? I think Dick and I are in for this ride, but we would rather stay in Alpine. We had the best hotel experience at the Sportsman Lodge there and the Cafe is super awesome with the best pie ever!
    I like pie.

Page 1 updated with confirmed dates, meeting spots, attendee list and what information from you I need.

The head count is at 23! All though some of those names were from January and I don't know if they're still in or not. It's looking like this will be the largest group ride I've lead, over a long distance. If we get 15 I'm going to ask for group captains for every 5 bikes.

PMs have been sent to everyone on the attendee list (first post). If you didn't get a PM but are planning to attend, please send me a PM.

Also -- regarding gear, I highly recommend picking up an air hawk seat cushion. I got one last year, works like a charm, very comfortable.

Shit, about to sell my bike and move to Albuquerque but heavily considering this. I'll check my work schedule tomorrow and make a decision then. Last years trip was awesome, I was very new to anything truly technical and was a bit overwhelmed at times. Everybody was very cool and it was certainly a "ride at your own pace" sort of deal.

[EDIT] Damn, saw this thread too late and somebody already has vacation scheduled, two can't take off at once. Maybe I'll catch up with you guys when you hit NM in the fall. Have fun!

Kilomph what are you selling? I'm already in the process of buying another bike, but just curious...

If I get off work in time and have a new bike by then I would go. I'm not taking a 250 on such a long trip though, so a lot of variables but damn tempting

Clovis, did you get my PM? I sent it from my phone last night but I don't see a record of it other than the icon says I replied to it.

Question. What do you guys recommend for rain gear? Other than a full rain suit. Trying to keep what I bring along as light as possible. Was planning on going to performance this weekend and see what they have there.

I have an extra rain suit Id let go if your interested, $50. Ive worn it once, perfect condition. Packs down to the size of a ziplock bag. Its an XL.
Or you can borrow it. And by borrow it I mean carry it with and hope you dont have to use it.

Hey thanks, that would be awesome. Hoping not to use it! I took a ride with my dad from here to Seattle and back when I was 16 and we got caught in the rain many times and it was miserable...even with some rain gear on!

Got caught in the rain last night from Aurora to downtown with no rain gear. Riding in the rain sucks!

I will be pushing on to Alpine. There is an amazing hotel there and I love the cafe. 600 miles isn't too far out of the realm of riding. What it means is I might not meet up with you guys on Friday. If DICK does come, then we will probably leave Thursday as soon as we get off work. I will keep you informed. If we were leaving Buena Vista at say 7AM instead of 9, then I would ride with you guys. I will keep you informed.

Thursday? Friday? We are meeting in BV Saturday morning. Are your days mixed up or are you trying to get a big head start on the pie? Either way Im game to push to Alpine if the pie is truly that good. Just my vote.

I have all day Friday off, actually I have the whole week off but who's counting. If some of us want to leave Friday and stay in a motel in BV Friday night Id entertain the idea. It just adds another nights motel to the cost of the trip. But then Ive spent more money on dumber stuff.

Otherwise, Id say we meet at MoCo Saturday morning at 600, KSU at 630. I figure we will shoot down 285 all the way to BV?

    Thoughts?

Nope, I didn't read the thread carefully enough and assumed we'd be leaving Friday through Sunday. That being said, HOTCARCASS will be in Alpine on Sat and was planning on riding on Saturday. I'll talk to DICK, but I'm sticking with my plan of leaving Thurs - Sunday. I'll keep you posted.

    Clovis,
How did you get to Socorro, NM on previous trips. It's not really close to Gallup....
I hope we're not really considering taking I-40 to I-25 home.

I will be in Florence AZ on Saturday. I will be in Alpine on Sunday. Sorry for the confusion BWAF. I plan to ride home with the group. I hope you guys come with us so we can pay homage to the arrow tree.
