I have 6k in my VFR and I ride to work any non-snow day if you want to see it in person.
The main reason I got the S was because the LED lighting is bright, and very white. I also think incandescent technology is pretty antiquated. Best visibility I've ever had or seen on a bike, and there is no projector just a reflector.

I haven't seen LED lighting yet bro so can't judge there but if the Panigales have them they gotta be good. Did you have pics?
I can post pictures up so you can see if you're interested. I've noticed between the Termis and the LED lights people notice me and get out of my way the fastest out of the bikes I've owned. My favorite little feature? When I scoot along on post in the 15MPH zones, my exhaust sets off car alarms parked on the side of the road. So bassy .

Yea dude definitely post up, always been curious as of how the lighting on the Panis is. The sound of them is just insanely awesome, only reason I'd own a Duc is that plus looks lol

Just to clarify I was referring to retrofitting. When built for LED they are great, and of course I have seen a Pani in action and I like it!

I have the 5K from DDM in my k5 1k.

Best upgrade to that bike yet. Lots of light, a tinge of blue but still a white light.

If I decide to change anything it will be to retrofit a projector into the normal low beams spot. Hasn't been necessary yet, but I do like the cut off of projectors.

either way you get the last laugh cause you got two of the most wanted bikes anyways and no snow where you at so no worries there

Re: Preferred HID model & temp, also Halo's?

I'm sure you looked my thread just below this one, I'm just starting an HID retrofit on my S1000RR. Using 35w 4300k and halos, dual frontal Bi-xenon projectors.

Personally, I like 4300 the best. All of the cars out there that come with HID projectors, 99% of them come from the factory with 4300k bulbs, and they are obviously not halogens by the slight blue you see. For me, this is plenty, any higher diminishes lighting quality and looks ricey. I won't use anything but the 4300s. I do like the look of 3k in the fogs though.

LED lights are obviously better in every way, except you won't find any for an aftermarket retrofit, and if you do, they won't be cheap. I'd love to hack up an Audi LED headlight and retrofit it, but that will come sometime later.

As far as HID bulbs in a reflector housing goes, I've had good and bad luck. I put HID bulbs in my SRT8's fog and highs, and they work extremely well. But I put HID bulbs in a friend's SV1000, and absolutely hated the light distribution. It depends on the reflector, some work well, others not so much.

4300K are optimal for lumen output plus with right the projector housing those suckers light up the road extremely well. Our Infinitis have badass lighting, you don't even need your high beams on a really dark road, hell with them shits you can even see a cop from a mile away

Re: Preferred HID model & temp, also Halo's?

To each his own, tho I have 8000K in my SV650. The bike is blue so I wanted something a little bluer. They still light up the night very well when riding. I use 6000K in all of my cars and have been on the last 7 cars I owned. And yes I know 4300K is ideal and 6000K is probably what most will rock, that or 5000K

Something I like about the 8000K is that with a little extra blue in them, they tend to stand out more so when you are trying to spot me in your mirror you can tell which bike is mine in a line of bikes or if I get lost and straggle behind the pack you can tell where I am (since I'm slow). Also, I like it for the noticeablility by automobiles, meaning they can tell there is a blue headlight bike coming up in the lane and they don't overlook me if they give a quick glance during a lane change. That to me means extra safety from lane changing drivers if I don't blend in with some of the stock HID lights people have in their cars.
