    Shipping a bike?

    Hello everybody,

Just bought a bike out in Reno, plans were to fly out, and ride it back to Colorado once the weather subsides (late April-Early May). I'm having second thoughts letting the bike idle that long with me not there to tend it.

Anyway, now looking at shipping it. I've never shipped a bike. Has anyone shipped a bike before? Are there certain companies that you would rather go through than others? Is anyone here connected in someway to a shipping company?

Details, Bike needs to be shipped from Reno to Oklahoma City where my dad can tinker on it while the weather gets better in Colorado. We checked on shipping with one company and it was roughly 500 and change. Would anyone recommend another alternative?

    Thankyou

    Re: Shipping a bike?

I used Uship to bid out an engine shipment to Ill. There is another forum member who uses it to get bids on out-of-state bike shipments and has been pleased with services received from uship members. I was happy with the service I received as well.

Np. I'm sure the cheapest would probably be to crate it yourself and put the offer out on uship stating explicitly that the unit is crated for shipment and that you do/do not need pickup.

Or you can do as Joe said and attempt to go directly to the transporters since it seems like some Uship people merely act as third-parties and BOL-makers.

Whoops missed that was in Reno. Ask Repsol_a095 for input here.

    Re: Shipping a bike?

I've used www.haulbikes.com twice now. Once with a cruiser on a private sale from MO and another time with a sportbike from a dealer in TN. Both times were around $550. No crating required and both times were smooth and painless.

Contact Robyn. Her and her husband are out of Cali and they are an amazing shipping team. I found them on uship and they have shipped about a dozen bikes for me. They are the nicest and most flexible team I have worked with. (949) 293-6602

Another vote for Uship. I've used it a couple of times and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Any LTL trucking company looking to fill there trailer will probably grab it fast, bikes don't take up to much room.
