New Rider Coaching (session 2) 4-7-13

Continuing on with this program. Looks like weather will be ok on the 10 day forecast. (rain date 4-14)

Some of you have read "The Pace". How many of you have actually practiced it?

I'm willing to take 4-5 new-to-canyons riders for some drills. We'll have a short classroom session over morning coffee, then run through some exercises in the local canyons, using the concepts of "the Pace" to finish out the morning.

If I can have another senior rider to volunteer for second instructor or sweep, I could open up for two or three more spots. To be fair, preference will be first timers and those who missed the last one, not someone who's done it already (but I will try my best to fit you in).

I've been riding for 10yrs with many thousands of miles all over the state and elsewhere. I've had track time with Vanmar, Chicane, Go4It, as well as been an instructor in cars for Go4It. I won't admit to knowing everything but certainly enough to make you a better rider.

Reply to this thread and I'll PM the details when I get to 4 noobs.

    Volunteers please let me know?

I'm in if that's ok. Haven't done much canyon riding since I moved to Denver.

I would love to attend this if my parents weren't in town that weekend helping fix up the house. I hope your turnout goes great and I'd attend any other time you do one! The one with Cornfed above was great for me to learn some of the basic things I am forgetting as a rider

Sounds fun. I'm not sure what my schedule holds just yet, but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

If this isn't filled up with newbies, I'd be interested. I've been to the canyons a couple of times.

That's just enough time to start to memorize bad habits. I would suggest that this would be ideal for your circumstances, especially if you haven't received any substantial instruction.

Now that the roads are starting to get cleared of sand, you can actually get some useful instruction without having to ride in the tire tracks. I'll be PM'ing those interested so far.

.. and I won't need the rain date.

To anyone still on the fence, because of the need to arrange for any extra senior riders and materials I'm going declare the class "full" on Thursday. Don't wait till the last minute.
