    Best Wireless Routers?

So there seem to be a lot of IT / Home Networking Smart people here so no harm in asking; I am now in the Market for a new Router , I currently have the Cisco Linksys WRT610N Dual Band. I know 11ac , is in its final stages of approval and any further changes "should" be able to be fixed by Firmware Upgrade. I also have looked into these four Routers and was wondering on Opinion or suggestions:

    1) Asus RT-AC66U

    2) Netgear R6300

    3) Linksys EA6500 Router AC 1750

    4) Cisco's Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router EA4500

I put in a ton of Netgear routers while I worked for Geek Squad. Didn't have many issues with them

If I were to buy new it would probably be something that can be flashed with DD-WRT.

    Or a Netgear.

    Or both.

Last one I got was Medialink, great customer support, and the Router is awesome. Read reviews at Amazon. I will highly recommend them.

I'm leaning more and more that way, but all my adapters and experience is with Cisco / Linksys. I'm going to try this DD-WRT on my 610N first, before I go spend 200.00 on an AC Router ... My 610N is the "Version -1" so in actuality I have found out, it's the "Draft N" version

I used to be a die-hard Linksys/Cisco guy. They are built poorly (low spec/performance) and don't have many features. You can DD-WRT an Asus anyway.

I've been using the RT-N66U for the past couple of years, going to upgrade once I move to their latest.

My last soap box post, I upgraded from the 6500. IDK why I waited so long...

    Re: Best Wireless Routers?

I just recently bought and started using an Asus RT-AC66R. I've been happy with it so far, haven't had any problems (even using some of the more advanced features).

In case you were wondering, apparently the RT-AC66R and RT-AC66U are the exact same, Asus just uses the R for models sold at retail stores.
