Not to sure that riding downtown as a new rider is a wise choice. Traffic (drunks) and the f'ed up layout might lead to some bad situations. I know it is the last place I would take my wife who is still learning.
UPS takes our semi-truck drivers through downtown (an empty doubles set) just to see how they react to traffic.
I screamed at my trainer after I locked up the set when some fucktard cut me off. I had nowhere to go and the trailers started to jackknife. If you want to play in traffic like that you better be able to react and have some sort of instinct as to what people in cars (and trucks) do. Everyone is out to kill everyone when they are in the cage.

I dunno, I pulled 8K last year working a mile from my house.

I'm always down to just cruise. Canyon riding is fun for sure but sometimes just a little cruising is all I feel like doing to get out for the day. I find riding the freeway is the best way to just cruise since riding downtown means stop and go at lights which sucks.
BTW Grim I need to try and get in your next riding video, I need evidence of my lack of skills to post on facebook for all my coworkers and friends to see

I think you should get out to some rides and meet people there and then test the waters and see who wants to go downtown. I've seen a sportbike crew drinking downtown on a weekend, seems like a horrible idea but I'm a very impressionable person so I can't say it's something I'd NEVER do. but I agree downtown sucks even when you're stone sober in daylight driving a car. Going downtown for drinks on a bike on a weekend, just seems like definitely wanting to die

Don't understand why people are on here if there just ganna talk shit!! If you don't like the thread DON'T ANSWER TO IT that simple. I thought people were just down to ride on this site keeping to fun if you don't like to ride downtown there is nothing wrong with that if you do that should be ok to. Just seem alil easier riding on the local streets till I get it down.
