I passed all my Comprehensive Exams!

Some of you guys know I have been studying for my Master's written and oral comprehensive examinations...

Tuesday night, after a harrowing two-hour question-a-thon with my profs, they happily shook my hand and told me that I passed!

I will be awarded my degree (Earth Science, concentration Education) in Fall 2013. I will finish my research project this month and submit it to my advisor.

I am the first person in my extended family to get a post-graduate degree. I have had many challenges in my life, and few focused and identifiable achievements, so I am very proud of my accomplishment. It's been a tough four years but now I am ready to teach our kids any of the four sciences.

I rarely think of motorcycles without a little yearning. They are about moving, and humans, I think, yearn to move – it’s in our cells, in our desires. We quiet our babies with cyclic movement, and we quiet ourselves by going.

Congrats, man. I know what it takes to achieve something like this.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

    Thanks, peeps! <sniff!>

Anybody tackling any canyons this weekend, and want an old man to ride 10 min behind (LOL)?

I'm up for a celebratory ride and to test out my new Zero Gravity Sport Touring w/s.
