Looking at revamping my resume...not so much concerned about the contant (yet)but was wondering what type of layout/templates are used these days for tech jobs? Any examples or pointers?
Thanks!

PM'd you mine.
There are a lot general pointers I can give for content and format, but the biggest ones to me are don't EVER put an objective line on your resume and keep it to 1 page unless it is a genuine C.V. with lots of research/publications/peer-reviewed stuff.
Outside of that I'd be happy to help. I spent many hours per week tailoring my cover/resume to each particular job I was applying for.

I think the minimalist style worked for me quite well. Just straight no-bullshit, no objective line to allow people to take a super-quick glance and dismiss you (in spite of the fact I think it is really outdated), and a pure focus on professional experience. The only reason my university was on there was due to my recent graduation. Had it not been so recent, it would be removed with more page space dedicated to my most recent position.
Landed 5+ interviews in a 30 day period, including some I was clearly underqualified for.

By 'objective line', do you mean career objectives, or what exactly? I've never included one, but was just curious.

I hire a ton of people in a semi-technical role and this is what I want to stand out:
Name
Education
previous position titles & employers (included dates)
certifications or designations (CFA, CFP, SQL, etc etc)
I have yet to read through a single cover letter; I rarely read through the responsibilities listed within each position they've held.
I also do not normally read objectives.
