Looking to rent house near Ft Carson

My wife and I will be moving to the Springs at the end of the month. Currently looking for a nice house to rent near Fort Carson (Fountain, Cheyenne Mountain or anywhere near). Hoping to keep it under 1400 a month for a 3+br/2+bath/2car garage home that accepts pets. We have a 9 yr old chocolate lab. I'm from Colorado, but have never lived in the Springs. If anyone has tips on areas to avoid, good schools (HS) or whatever please feel free to comment. Thanks!

    Where do I begin...

To start, the area off of B Street is to be avoided at all costs, unless you like seeing the police in your neighborhood every night. Cheyenne Mountain is ok, but the further west you go, the more the rent goes up. I think your best bet is going to be the Fountain area, since you want to be close to Carson. Fountain has some decent areas, but some trashy parts as well. They have some newer subdivisions off of Powers (or whatever it's called when it goes into Fountain. Fountain Mesa, maybe? Mesa Ridge?) and some decent ones north of 85/87.

Here's a few I found in those subdivisions I was talking about. No idea on pets, though:

Thanks for that. We've been looking non stop for a few weeks now. Not being able to see the properties in person is the hard part. I think we found a nice place in Fountain.

We have a house in Fountain that's exactly your description.

3 bed, 2.5 bath. Master bath is a 5 pc (oval soaker tub, seperate shower, toilet, two sinks).

Also has an unfinished basement. 1500sq finished, 2200sq total, 2 story house with a 2 car garage. Built in 2003, original owners.

Huge fenced back yard (the lot is 1/3 acre). My wife and I are building our new house and that will be done mid-September but we were planning on leaving early to either get it rented or on the market. We're deciding between renting it and selling it.

1359 Ancestra Drive Fountain, CO 80817 is the address if you want to google that or check on zillow.com

We've been looking at a lot of houses in that area. It seems there are a lot that are either up for sale or recently sold. What is the area like? I can see your house on Zillow, but there's only two pics and the street view on Google earth is blurred. Would love to know more.
