Looking for a Target Shooting Location

I am looking for a good place to target shoot and to teach my wife how to shoot handguns.

Any suggestions for a free or inexpensive place near Aurora?

Cherry Creek reservoir has a shooting range...not free, but highly doubt you will find any place in town that will be free. As for indoors I go to The Shootist, but in like Englewood http://www.davidsonsinc.com/consumer...aler_id=449047

Cherry Creek isn't bad, and yeah you won't find free around here unless you do the Aurora Drive-By method.

You can also go up in the hills to forest service land, just follow the rules for distances from roads and clean up after yourself.

I was looking online for forest service areas that allow shooting, but then I found a bunch of closure notices. I would hate to pack up and drive to a nice location with my wife, hike out to the middle of nowhere, then get busted for shooting in an area that had a closure notice that I wasn't aware of.

I think there was a story on 9News a few months back about the closure being in place because of the extreme fire danger. They made it sound like the areas would reopen in the future when the fire danger lessened.

Lefthand OHV area had a lot of people shooting right at the base last time I was up there, (6 weeks ago). This past weekend everywhere in Gilpin county had no fireworks and no shooting signs posted.

Firimg line in aurora. Weekends can be crowded with a wait... The Family Shooting Center in The Cherry Creek res. is okay, but IMO run by some Hardasses. I get that they've had problems there, but sometimes they can be a PITA. I used to go there to teach people how to shoot, their range officers while helpful seem to want to poke eir nose in your instruction and offere unsolicited advice.
