Finally got an automatic oiler on the '98 VFR. I sprung for the electronic model this time.
This is my second Scottoiler so feel free to tell me all about how it's pointless and will spontaneously leave a james bond style oil trail everywhere I go.

I bought a different brand for my 12R, but never got around to mounting it. Not much room back there for the bottle and allow easy access.
Still not 100% sold. Current o and x-ring chains don't need much lube, and oil tends to catch dust and dirt which will accelerate the wear on the rubber.

Sure is a good thing that my goal isn't to get oil inside my chain.

Getting the feed rate right is a delicate balance between enough to keep the chain clean and lubed, and enough to coat the rear half of the bike with greasy gunk. Most of the customers I have that use oilers err towards the latter...

That balance was hard to maintain on the vacuum operated system I used to have. That's why I went with the e system this time. Even so, I'd much rather take a rag and wipe off a little extra if need be than clean and re lube the chain all the time. I HATE CHAIN MAINTENANCE.
Damn, Dave. You're just hell-bent on destroying the Earth.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self- preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property, and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
--Thomas Jefferson
Never really hated it, but it got old. Now I have a belt drive and don't have to bother.I HATE CHAIN MAINTENANCE.
