He was doing a stoppie he was on the brakes so hard. I have NO idea where that car was intending to go? And why the hell did they not just get out but instead backed up to open the lane?

Ezzzy, you are close. She gave the kid her bus pass, it didn't work for him so she was going to give him cash to ride the bus. Hence her pulling ACROSS the double yellow, to effectively block the bus and give him $. It was a woman driver.

That section of road is very tight, with some rolling hills and light curves, not blind but enough if you don't ACTUALLY look, you can miss a bike or small car. He was speeding but wasn't going 80 as she suggested, more like 60. It is however a 30 MPH zone I think.

And for the record, no one goes 30 down that road, everyone does 45ish so his speed wasn't irregular.

Re: Jack Nicklaus' Grandson Crash Video

Doing twice the speed limit in a section of road where "you can miss a bike or small car"...

But everyone else does 150% of the speed limit, so his doing 200% of the speed limit is clearly justified and reasonable.

And this is the cars fault...

You have got to be kidding me.

I am pretty sure quite a few on this board could see a motorcyclist pull over and stop, get off his bike, beat a pregnant lady to death, then get back on his bike and ride off and still blame the pregnant lady.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of oblivious drivers.
This is a fact that we all know when we buy a motorcycle, get it out of the garage, and choose to ride it.
We all choose to ride a certain way. Fast or slow, stupid or safe.
This guy, I don't care who he is, chose to ride fast and stupid for the road he was on, knowing the possibility of stupid drivers existed.

Is the lady in the clear? Nope.
She should have checked more carefully.

Is the guy on the bike some innocent victim? Nope.
He made a series of stupid decisions, and got beat up for it. He should be glad he only got minor injuries.

I know, I know, rational thought and logic have no place when a motorcyclist is somehow interfered with by a vehicle with 4 tires.

The police report faults the driver of the Lexus for causing the crash, writing that the driver, who was not identified, “had not established the right of way,” and “violated the right of way” of O’Leary.

Regardless of fault, he was very lucky. Doesn't appear to wearing helmet, jacket, or gloves. To walk away with minimal injury is lucky. Many more people have lost their lives wearing far more gear in more tame collisions.

Def agree, riding safely, reasonable speed and being defensive can prevent a lot of accidents. And this should have been able to be prevented.

But the speed was speculative, the illegal turn and crossing the line, clearly a violation.

Plenty of fault to be passed around.

I agree with Grant. If he had been doing 45 he would have been able to stop or at least avoid the accident. You can see him way off in the distance, why doesn't he see the car too?
