    Bishops Castle, Rye, Colorado

Well I am feeling a crunch with riding getting close to ending and I am looking at riding to Bishops Castle in Rye with another, well if weather permits this Saturday. I am in the need for help with a route from Springs, from lakewood I can do Deckers to woodland Park and the 115 to 67 and then to 165. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you want to join, pm me. This is a all day ride.

Which way are you looking at going? You can take Deckers to Woodland and on to Cripple Creek. From the Creek, you can take High Park to highway 9 to highway 50. 50 can take you east to Canon or west to Texas Creek and into Westcliffe, then 96 to the road to Bishops (126?)

Well if I do to Cripple which is 67, then I am unsure of the road from Victor down to Canon City, my map it looks like unpaved. That would be faster if it was paved.

From Cripple Creek you will want to take Teller County Road 1 to the North until it intersects High Park Road, County Road 11. From there you simply follow it South-West until it intersects with HWY 9. HWY 9 eventually intersects with HWY 50, from there you can choose to go West towards Texas Creek, or East to Canon City. As Ninja2 recommended in another thread, it's usually best to avoid Canon City and just go to Texas Creek, then down to Westcliffe. Here's the route in Google Maps. http://goo.gl/maps/evoat

Depending on the weather and if I'm feeling up to it, I could possibly meet up in Pine at Zokas and guide you down through the Cripple Creek area to HWY 50. I'm not too keen on going much further South than that, but anything's possible.

It doesn't have to end! We bundle up and ride in the winter in temps over 40-45. We may have to avoid the sandy, icy roads with altitude, but so long as the sun is shining and the lower roads haven't been too recently sanded, we get out on two wheels when we can.

No real reason in particular, I just haven't felt like riding as much recently and, aside from the scenery, a ride to Bishop's Castle isn't at the top of my wishlist.

To much rain for me this week. Having some gear issues too. Have fun though. Really wanna try and make it down there before the end of October though looks like a really cool place.

Skip Cripple Creek and just take Hwy 24 to Florissant, go south to Teller 11 like above. The turn west is at the llama farm on the east side of the road. Very nice ride and mostly void of traffic (unlike 67 to CC). Open range means just that! We lost a rider a while back b/c of cows on that road.

I'll join you most likely, I'll probably meet up somewhere along Hwy 50, and can guide or try and keep up from there. Drano will probably join us, his pussy just gets sore from the not-even-sport bike riding position

That's a good one, Aaron... Still keeping it classy I see. Solely for the entertainment value, remind me, which of us still rides with stock clip-ons? I know I do, but I seem to recall you forking out roughly $300 for a set of Helibars. Why would you do such a thing? Was there something wrong with the super-sport riding position? Were you attempting to convert the S1000RR into an S1000ST? Perhaps you would have been better off getting a 1200GS or a K1300S instead. Both have a more upright position from the factory and cost a couple thousand dollars less.

But they have much less horsepower!

I'm out, had other plans made for me this weekend.

Huh, too much rain for me as well. But will be doing this ride soon, well mostly because all our mountain roads up here are gone. So to whom ever I won't be riding this this weekend.

I will gladly join this ride when weather permits. I know Luis was going to attend as well but the weather probably put a good amount of washout on the roads and I think its still supposed to rain some more this weekend. But next weekend weather shows no rain and 80+ temps so I'm down!

Probably for the best to postpone. AFAIK, the roads down here are fine, but with all of this rainfall, and more to be expected, it's better to wait it out.

Yep, let's postpone to the 28th. Feeling crummy from this cold, and the flooding isn't over. Sigh. -Luis
