    Re: Colorado/Utah

Revised the route a little. Same overall route, but changed the stopping points to make the ride a little more relaxed. The first two days are the longest when everyone is energetic and not needing a chiropractor yet. The third day is a little shorter. Day 4 is the shortest with Pagosa as the destination to allow plenty of soak time to rejuvenate due to the magically restorative powers of the sulphur springs(although you will smell like it for a little while...). Last day is a relatively short ride back /home to Denver, Pueblo, C springs from Pagosa. I say leave 6/28. Back home 7/2. Avoids the holiday rush and crowds from July 4th.

Longest days are day 1 and 2. Day 3 is pretty relaxed. Day 4 is the shortest with the best destination to soak the road weary body. Day 5 is a short hop back home.

Stop at the Resort in Gateway if you have time. You can cool off in the bar and enjoy the view. Also a cool car museum is there. I gotta stay there some day....rooms start around $275 on a slow weekday.

I may be interested, but if the dates are during the Pikes Peak Hill Climb I will have to pass since I am going. Don't even bother going around Pikes Peak the last week of June since the mountain is shut down for practice runs leading up to race day on June 29th.

I'm enjoying seeing this trip come together. While I'm unable to join, I'm looking to go on a trip to Salt Lake City in April/may and hope I can pick up some tips from everyone.

The date is confirmed. 28 June Saturday. Sorry Nick but Pat doesn't get back from Romania until the weekend you have scheduled off.

So the 28th June until 1 July....think that 5 days total.

    Re: Colorado/Utah

This is a very interesting trip. I've been following it's progress and it's very tempting to join. I've been trying for the last 3 yrs. to make it out to S. Utah and it just never seems to pan out. Is anyone planning to 2-up this ride? My wife maybe interested in this one. Day 3, though short is one boring ass ride, unless you like lots of desert. Went from Flagstaff to Montrose on our way back from the Devils Spine last year and could barely stay awake. I would suggest backtracking day 2 just to keep it interesting. A good road is never the same in the opposite direction. Unless you plan to stop at the Grand Canyon.

June is a long way off... my cabin fever is really starting to make itself known.

I'd like to go but I'm not sure I can do a 5 day trip while leaving our new born with my wife for that long. She will be 4 months old at that time.

Clovis...see day 4 ends in Pagosa Springs...so for those with wives not riding you can have them drive down and enjoy the hot water springs or head home at day 4. But if you have never been to Pagosa Hot Water Springs it is a must with family or after riding straight for 4 days. Cant go wrong either way.

I've done almost that entire route several times. The trip to the Grand canyon just last summer. Williams is a nice place to stay, on Route 66.
