Consumer Reports on Motorcycle repairs for '09-'12

If you read about the data collection and type or repairs reported and this makes a little more sense.

Not surprising Yamaha is at the top for reliability. I've owned 4 Yamahas now with 75,000 or so miles of riding and basic maintaince is all I've had to do besides the 26,000 mile valve adjustment on my FJR. (They were within spec)

Now if only they'd start defying gravity you'd never need to fix them.

    To be fair

a bunch of BMWs are dual sport or adv bikes that go through a lot, any bike like that will need shop time

harley's are only ridden in the summer through town at low speeds with no liquid cooling (until recently), so they're gonna get hot

    and yamahas are fucking indestructible

Yea, a lot of this was called out in the article. Most of the BMW complaints stemmed from "accessories" and they along with HD still were highest rated for overall satisfaction.

Only had issues with my TPMS, but those have been covered under warranty on my C14 (batteries). Otherwise, just regular maintenance. About to pass 40k.
