I see Cal Crutchlow just got arm pump surgery, making him the nth MotoGP guy to have the operation lately.

Racers out there: why do so many top pros get arm pump? Some might say it comes from gripping the bars too tight, but I'm guessing the best riders in the world know what they're doing & only hang on as tight as they have to. Is it mostly from the stress & shifting of blood maximum braking puts on your hands & forearms? The squeezing of the brakes, implying the right arm is more susceptible?

I ride like a grandma so I'll never know myself, but I'm interested in what you fast guys and girls think. Have you gotten it yourselves? Has anyone had the surgery & did it help?
