How to stand a bike up?

Sounds like a dumb question haha. I live at an apartment with a one car garage and I want to have more room by standing my bike up. Does anyone have any idea how I can do this quickly? (Not using a rear stand)

I already bought a auto locking wheel chock but when I got it into it, I couldn't get my bike out because I can't bolt it into the floor (not allowed).

The only other thing I can think of is having straps hang down from the joists that I can just loop over both handle bars real quick to hold it up.

I can do anything but mess up the concrete. Any help?

I bolt it to the concrete.

    A) Will they really notice 4 holes in the floor?
    B) If so, fill the holes with epoxy.
    C) If they'll notice the epoxy, repaint the sport wih an oil spill

Hmmm yeah cause they do have anchors that don't stick out if you unscrew them. I might have to look into that.

Not sure what chock you have, but something like this: http://www.harborfreight.com/http-ww...7841-html.html might make it easier to get your bike out.

Yeah I bought the $40 one from hf. But when you push it on it just slides out. So you gotta bolt it down!

Anchor a couple eye screws in the wall studs and use ratchet straps?

Aaron is right, just get some of this and they will never notice the patches. Sweep some dust over it and your are done.

Mount whatever chock you use to the wall studs, or plywood screwed across the studs, instead of the concrete floor.

Can you simply pull it to one side as far as possible then put a block under the kickstand? I do this in my garage and it has worked OK.

What about bolting the wheel chock to plywood long or wide enough for you to step on to secure it while entering/exiting.

Yeah, just install the wheel chock onto a piece of plywood. I have heard of that being done before to solve the conundrum of the migrating wheel chock.

This is exactly what I did! Got some 1/2in osb and cut it to 3x8. I may use some 90 degree angles to screw it to the studs if it moves more. Hopefully it'll work out!

    Thanks guys!

if it happens to be in a corner, that would solve securing the bike, just have to hold it/step on it to remove the bike.

I was going to say get an old inner tube, cut and glue that to the bottom of the stand... Should provide enough friction to get the bike out of the stand...

Re: How to stand a bike up?

Damn what am I missing here? We are actually talking about a sportbike being stored vertically? Is that even ok for the bikes fluids? How is a 400pnd+ just going to get lifted vertically up by a wheel lock. Can a bike really be lifted and stored by it's handlebars! I must be missing something here

I thought this was a bicycle, but then all this talk on motorcycle wheel locks

Still on two wheels, just straight up and down instead of at an angle on the kickstand.

The way the bike would be riding straight.

I have the hf one I got from a member here. Quit being a Sally and just put your left foot on the stand and pull the bike out.
