    Hey, pukes! Need some advice...

You lot might remember me. I'm that really old fucker with the cherry Clinton-eta F3 Honda. You probably are wondering, "That old dipstick wad that thing up in a corner or sumthin'?"

Well, I didn't die or anything, but instead I traded the old 600 for a super-clean, positively ancient Chevy Silverado, which has become my daily driver/winter beater. I sold my hated Subaru for cash and paid some bills and bought a little Kwak 250 dual sport.

I gotta guy that wants to trade me a 99 TLS1K for it. It's got low miles and looks pretty solid. Anybody here have any feedback on the TLS?

By the way, I finally finished my Masters!!

I have a few friends that LOVE their TLS's. There are a shit load of forums that discuss TLS owners issues, mods and whatnots. I have seen some sick looking mods on those little guys.

Oh yea, CONGRATS on your MASTERS!!!

The TLS is a bike that's full of character.

    Pluses
    great v-twin motor
    easy parts and service
    reliable

    minuses
    heavy
slighly underpowered by both the standards of the day and today
headshake (solved for the most part with a steering damper)

    would i I trade a n250 for it? Yes.

If the bikes in good shape, its far more bike than you have right now and great overall. Issues like every other bike but bullet proof motor and stable runner down the road.

Also known as the widow maker, def get a damper if it doesn't have one already.

Agree with everything Rybo said except underpowered for the time. Now a days perhaps. Plenty of juice to get you thrown in jail.

Peeps, the guy turned out to be one of those patented Craigslist flakes. Huuuuuuuge surprise. Thought another guy wanted to trade his VFR... looks like another Craigslist flake.

C.L. total waste of time these days. It almost doesn't matter what you are trying to do.

There is one guy in all of C.L. advertising that he teaches Revit. I contacted him and he claimed he was AIA (licensed architect) and had been using Revit for six years. What a joke he turned out to be!! Took him 24 hours to respond to any email and would never answer my question of what his experience was in certain areas. After two-weeks of this shit, he expected me to pay him $50/hr. (which is really, really good if he knows what he's doing) to find out what he knows. Looks like my 'novice' ass knew more than he did, so I told him to press on...

Well, the Craigslist option seemed to be going poorly...

Until I got an offer to swap an 01 Ducati 748 for my KLX!

Bike is old and kinda worn. Motor is very solid. Was repainted yellow to red and gray, kinda like a modern MV Agusta. It's seen it share of some hard riding. Same guy owned it from 06, and his brother put 20 K on it. Clutch was done, rear shock, chain and sprockets. It needs a master cylinder and some new tires (those maybe can come in Spring, the master needs NOW). Starts and runs very strong. Pretty uncomfortable, but very cool, and amazing to ride!

You should look at a fz1 (1000c) or fz6 (600cc). Lot of bang for your buck on both bikes!

If you picked that up, grats on the new ride. MarkT on the forums used to have one of those, though his was bored out to an 853, I think. It was certainly a different beast to ride compared to my SV650, but I couldn't get enough of the beautiful noise it made. Enjoy it!

Here's the latest pic (sorry, only a phone pic at that due to weather and time limitations):

So it's already taught me that I must respect it... Riding an aggressive bike like this takes a whole new level of care and attention.
