Video of my S1000RR at HPR

This was taken a couple weeks ago, just got around to editing it and getting it up. Wish there was less wind noise and more motorcycle noise, but oh well. I don't/can't use a lap timer so my tap times are taken off the video, I timed it at about a 2:17. Probably could've cut a good few seconds if there wasn't the oil spill through the corkscrew, but I was nervous to go hard over the remaining absorbent. I was trapping about 155-160mph at the end of the back straight.

The track was freaking amazing, I can't wait to run there again.

Wow, I'm impressed! You have come a long way, you would leave me behind!

Woild love to see the view with the camera tilted up. Fwiw I found the best mourning position to show from the riders perspective is the side of the helmet angled so to look ahead as the rider wears it.

The RR doesn't have a built in laptimer?

It does, it runs off the high beam switch. You flash the high beams to trigger it. However to run at the track you have to remove the fuse, and then the trigger doesn't work. They sell resistors that plug into the headlight socket and replace the bulb that allow the lap timer to work, but I'm using completely different bulbs because of my HID conversion.

Lastly, I'm not sure I want a lap timer. Everyone I've talked to has mentioned how the track stops being fun once you time your laps. For the time being I have the time of my life out there, and I don't want to lose that.

You do not have to disable the headlights (or tail lights) at HPR, and if the lenses are plastic they do not even need to be taped. People disable the lights to keep tape glue from baking on.

Lap timers do not take the fun out of it for me at all. It is a tool to help you gauge progress. A new personal best is always exhilarating. That being said I did run a couple sessions yesterday in the Stang with mine turned off because I wanted to dial it back and work on entries and corner speed along with figuring shifts and gear selection in certain segments. Riding the track is a never ending quest for the perfect lap. It is also a growing process, you will learn more every time you ride.
I prefer to have my GoPro(s) bike mounted, I can glean more useful data from the static mount showing my controls and/or instruments along with the track surface.

    Hey Aaron,

    Looking good!

You have some easy lap time reduction in opening your entry lines a bit, especially in the fast corners (T3, T4, T10) you enter these corners about 1/2 track, and if you use the far edge you will be able to carry considerably more speed into the turn with less risk (it's not often that you get to both increase speed AND reduce risk at the same time, so this is cool). When you do get to do this I consider it "free" seconds, since they really don't cost you anything.

I agree with bueller. Running a timer helps me make better laps, so I use one at the track. I also make extensive use of video when people pay me for coaching because it's super valuable.

    Keep having fun!
