    Vibrations!

I've noticed that my bike likes to vibrate an insane amount, but only sometimes. There will be times when it is perfectly fine and enjoyable, and other times when there is a high frequency vibration throughout the bike. It is so bad that after about 10 to 20 minutes, I want to stop riding. I can feel it in the handlebars, footpegs, and anywhere else I touch with my hand. But again, it's not all the times.

Any idea how to figure out the cause? And possibly stop it?

Take a glance at the revs and/or gearing while it vibrates. My guess is that you have a certain resonant frequency that happens only at certain RPMs.

    Re: Vibrations!

I've tried to find a correlation there, but I can't. When it does it, it does it at just about any rev and speed. I've noticed it can do it from 3k all the way to 8k. But again, other times it doesn't do it hardly at all. This morning going to Denver was great, coming home was awful.

    Re: Vibrations!

    I'll check the motor mounts.

Carb was sync'd recently, but that doesn't mean it is correct, since I'm been messing with settings a bunch lately trying to get my idle where it needs to be. So I'll check that again.

    Re: Vibrations!

While poking around the internet, I read that an overtightened chain could cause vibrations. So I checked mine, and it only had about 12mm movement, and calls for 20-35mm. So I loosened that up. Didn't get to ride it yet, as an electrical gremlin popped up and I fixed that too. An ignition connector and wire grounded to the frame, killing the 30A fuse. Not sure if an electrical problem could cause any vibration, but I suppose a lot of things are possible on a 20 year old bike.
