9/23/14 - Wing night at Quaker Steak and Lube (Westminster)

I think it's been a while since we have had one of these I believe. Forecast for partly cloudy and highs in the 80s and Wednesday should be sunny so it should be a decent riding day. I know some have to work, but I'd be up for a ride before.

Anybody interested? Say like 7PM or whatever time we do?

I'm always down for some wings. I live 10minutes from this place and have yet to give it a try.
You want to hit up P2P before we head down to this joint? I'm thinking up Coal Creek then down 7. Let me know if you have a different route in mind.
I get out of work at 2pm everyday, so anytime after that I'm in.

You guys decide on a time for the pre wing ride? Obviously the ride ends at the wing place, does it also start there?

I might ride my bike in to work tomorrow and the wing place is about 25 min from where I work (in the opposite direction of home, but whatevs)...so I might join if there is room for one more

Where does 7 dump us off and about what time would we want to leave from Quaker Steak to be back around 7?

Weather looks good today. I'm riding my bike to work. I'll keep an eye out to see what time you guys are riding. If I can get out of work early enough I'll join. Otherwise ride safe and have fun!

7 will bring us back down to Lyons. From there we can just take 36 or cherryvale back. How about we meet at 4pm at Quaker? Come on down if you can, Jim. What time you get out of work?

Here's the route. 2h 17minutes not counting traffic on the way back.

I'd have to leave work early to make it (and I just remembered I need gas too dammit)...

Depending on how much work I get done today, I'll try and bail out early from work and meet you guys at Quaker. Will you have your phone on you? I'll text as the time gets closer, that way if I can't make it you guys aren't waiting around for me.

If we left at 3, would that work? Cat and I could probably join, we need to get the new tires scrubbed in, that puts us back at the starting point around 5:30 hopefully dodging some Boulder traffic via Cherry Vale

Yikes...I'm assuming you're ok then? What happened?

As for the ride, 3 would be too early for me probably, but you guys go ahead. I'll keep an eye out in case the time changes, but don't change anything for me

Yea I'm surprisingly fine despite getting knocked out and having no recollection of it. Just woke up in the hospital. Paramedics just dumped me off, we have no idea what happened so I get to do some detective work and find out where my bike is and what condition it is in. Judging by the shape I'm in, it was a pretty low speed crash so maybe the bike is decent. Knee is a bit sore as is my neck and just have some scrapes.

Sorry to hear that GMR. We should cancel the ride today, but I'm down for some wings though. This weekend would be better to see the changing leaves on P2P anyway. Lets ride sometimes this weekend Jim and Generic.

Re: 9/23/14 - Wing night at Quaker Steak and Lube (Westminster)

sorry if anyone got stranded ther (Nguyen?)..I really wanted wings still but the plans for my day changed drastically and I spent all day running around to the police station, finding the place that towed the bike... I ended up getting wings because I had already had my mind set, but I got them at a buffalo wild wings.

I'll post some pictures of the bike soon. Haven't tried to start it up, but I have the feeling it probably runs. Body work is pretty damaged but I think with some work it is rideable.

I've never filed a claim on insurance before. Should I? I think what usually happens is they give you money for the claim and call it a loss but you can still repair it yourself and it will just have a salvage title? Was thinking about just turning this into a track bike. If the damage isn't bad enough to call it a loss, where would be a good place to take it? It's sitting in the back of my pickup right now and I don't have a bike ramp, so I might as well bring it somewhere now for an estimate.

If anyone here has a shop or something that thinks they would be a good place to take it (like Idk, TFOG jim?) feel free to give me a call.

Dude, no need to apologize for an accident.

As far as filing a claim, if you file and the total it you'll have the option to buy back the bike (with a salvage title). At that point you'd get cash for the value of the bike minus it's salvage value. Or you can let them take the bike and just get the straight up cash. This is all assuming you have collision coverage. In numbers, that means the following (I'm making up numbers here)

    Value of bike $4,000
    Salvage Value - $1,300

You either pocket $4K and they take the bike or you get $2,700 and keep the bike.

Beaware your rates might go up, did the policy file a report?

You can take it to a local Yamaha dealer to get the estimate if you want. Depending on how much it is and whether or not it was your fault you can decide if you want to file a claim. If it is not a total you can pocket some money if you order the parts and put it back together yourself. Or use the money to purchase upgrades instead of stock parts.

Re: 9/23/14 - Wing night at Quaker Steak and Lube (Westminster)

hah, well.... turns out I didn't put collision on the bike. That's fine because filing the claim sounds like extra hassle and as mentioned, rates will go up. I think my rates will go up though because I do have 10k medical on the policy and I'm sure a decent amount of that will be used in the hospital. So when they get bills from the hospital, my payments will go up.
I'll take the bike to a yamaha dealer. like i said though, i think at this point i'd be best off turning it into a track bike (townie would appreciate having a track bike with a title). it would be cheaper to repair as the left headlight is ruined if i just got some track fairings. we'll see

Hey I'm just glad you're ok, GMR. Hope you get things straighten out and your bike fixed. Things can be replaced, money can be re-earned, and wings can be fried any day.
