Need a big a$$ impact gun and sockets

I need help tightening up the bolts on my Equalizer weight-distributing hitch. The book calls for the two 3/4" shank bolts to be tightened to 320 Ft-lbs with a 1 1/8" socket. Also, the ball could probably be tightened up some, 1 7/8" thin walled socket, 430 Ft-lbs.

Anyone in the SE Aurora area able to help out? If so, PM me with what I'd need to bring along in cash or beverage.

    Thanks!

My biggest torque wrench only goes to 250 ft. lb., but my air impacts are supposed to be 450 ft. lb. Anytime works. No need to bring cash or anything.

Address sent. Literally, anytime works. I work at home and have no plans on going anywhere...

Hmmm...I work at home too. Maybe sometime today. I'll contact you first.

    Thanks!

I can really do without the info that someone with a bike lives near me and works at home, too. All of a sudden my work load became real light. Bikes, burger and a beer?

Ha! My schedule isn't quite as flexible as yours, but a ride for beers and burgers could be done some evening for sure.

Yeah, it would have to be a quick lunch, anyway. ...and, it's not that I have a flexible schedule. It's that I get bored and take-off. Actually, it probably has more to do with being irresponsible!

After today, though, I'm gonna have some time. I have a project in engineering (usually takes a couple weeks) and don't start another until next week.

Thanks for the help Dean. I wasn't able to find the socket for the ball anywhere. UHaul didn't have a thin wall socket, HF had one and Sears had one but not quite thin enough. I'm going to have to hit the RV stores tomorrow somehow.

Wow! Sure looked like a socket would have fit in there. Since it's only for your hitch, grind it down. I've had to do that to many sockets and wrenches over the years...

Re: Need a big a$$ impact gun and sockets

I called more stores today including a local RV place. The RV parts guy said that they don't stock the sockets because all of their mechanics have their own. When I asked if I could have them tighten mine, he said the minimum charge was $100. Yeah, no thanks. Called Napa and they said they had one in stock for $24. Got there and it was $42. I guess the clerk on the phone was dyslexic. Yeah, no thanks.

Drove 20 minutes to a Tractor Supply and got the socket for $10, a 1/2" to 3/4" for $5 and a pipe wrench for $10. Got a helping hand to hold the pipe wrench on the ball and I tightened the ball nut with my breaker bar. It probably isn't 450lbs tight, but I'll keep an eye on it. How the heck does anyone hold an impact wrench with 450lbs of torque anyway? Seems impossible to me unless Popeye works at the shop.

Seriously bro I'd love to give that a shot....I am obsessed with strength and gaining it!
