DB Reduction - V Twin guys I need some feedback (Laguna Seca Feedback Needed)

Trying to plan a trip to CA this summer and incorporate a track day at Laguna Seca. Problem with that track is its very strict on your DB level. My S1000RR is not the issue...Its my buddies KTM RC8. Akro with a DB Killer puts it at 101 DB (Stock is about the same). Laguna Seca regulations has 90DB on a ride by!!

I am not exactly sure how they measure which also adds to suspense of knowing if it will pass or not. Supposedly, you can let off the gas as you pass the tower to keep you out of trouble but thats a stretch in my eyes.

Anyone ever ridden this track and have any feedback on DB's? Any other suggestions outside of the DB Killer Insert on how to get the DB's down?

    Thanks in advance. Joe

Totally unrelated to bikes, but when I did a track day at Laguna with the car guys, the ones who got dB warnings after the first session came up with some "ingenious" fixes. Like juice cans with a hole facing the side of the track away from the sound meter. Also in those days they placed the sound meter on the uphill straight between T5 & T6, so lifting off would kill your lap times.

Found this review, "The big "gotcha" is the 92dB sound limit because of the one guy who lives down the hill from the track and has had some personal agenda against Laguna Seca for the last 40 years.

I happened to find a 105dB day and didn't worry about sound, but they usually have the sound monitoring in the same spots so you can just add something to your exhaust to dampen the sound or direct the sound in-field (the "Laguna-Spec exhaust")

If you've never driven Laguna Seca, go take your car and drive it, or rent a track-ready car for the day and get an instructor "

Screw a car. This is a bike trip!! haha

Back on topic, I am not sure how to get a bike that normally runs close to 100 db (with a db insert) down to the low 90's.

Lift throttle at the sound booth every lap.

Does he run the DB killers at any other place? If not, weld on a extension of pipe with the exhaust hole pointed sideways away from the sound meter. Yeah they'll look ghetto but might get by the sound nazis.

Check the Panigale forums. They have the same issue.

Bwhaha I would say so. "At a recent trackday at Snetterton, the db level was 105db but a Pani S with the stock pipes failed at 107db. "

The problem with the Panigale is the exhaust comes out of both sides as well. I've used steel wool and some mechanics wire to barely pass the db test and I still think they just turned their heads and let me pass.

    It's a loud beast.

You might have problems with your RR too, I know they have one of the loudest OEM exhausts. Mine is pretty loud for a factory system.
