    Anyone have experience with enclosed motorcycle trailers?

    Looking to get into an enclosed motorcycle trailer to haul my ZX-12R and my tool box. Would like this for when I make trips to the dragstrip and also when I find myself moving cross country with my job (every couple years). I understand all aluminum ones like the Featherlite and Aluma brand are lighter, more payload, and then more expensive. I'd like to find something for $2000-2500. The two biggest things I want to haul are my Snap-On tool box (KRL series, 54", probably weighs 1500lbs, maybe more) and my ZX-12R (500lbs). I'm curious as to ones with ramp door vs "barn" door... Ramp door would be nice, but I'll need one strong enough to roll my tool box up/down. Because of the weight of the tool box, I'm thinking it will have to go in the middle of the trailer on one side (over the axle) and then the motorcycle on the opposite side.

    Thinking I should look for a 6'x10' V-nose....

    Does anyone here use an enclosed trailer, and care to share your setup with me? Trying to get some ideas.

    Here is a picture of my tool box so you get an idea of it's size...

    Shouldn't be a problem fitting both of those in a 6x10, weight and size-wise.

    GECCO, I'll definitely hit you up when I get home in about 6 weeks and see if you still have that trailer. Thanks for the input.

    Here is my setup. I have had a few different ones over the years but this one I will keep for a lifetime. Full Aluminum and a v-nose makes the trailer a little easier to pull with a half ton truck (7x14). I can fit four bikes if I get really motivated to pack it in. Having the Pit-Bull trailer restraints makes that possible. The E-Track also helps to secure things to the wall and floor.

    That's exactly how I plan to set mine up! Thanks for the pics. If you don't mind sharing, what brand is it and about how much did it run ya?

    I had a Forest River purchased 10? years ago. V-nose, single axle, barn door, 6x10 with extra height. Mine was mostly towing and sleeping at the track plus used it for bike-camping trips a number of times. Once finished, I really liked the storage up front for all the loose small items that didn't live in boxes plus organization of small tubs.

    I would suggest look seriously into a double axle since you are looking at a large heavy item concentrating weight.
    Having barn doors vs ramp became a bit of a PITA when loading multiple bikes, ramp would be my next one.

    The brand is Nashcar which went out of business a few years ago. I got an inside track on this one and got a deal on it but it still ran close to $5k. Finding a full aluminum trailer is lot harder to find than steel. Its not that big of a deal, but the extra ton is just more weight to drag around. If you have a diesel I wouldn't worry about trying to find aluminum. Couple of things to watch for.

    * Easy Lub Hubs
    * Breaks on both axles
    * Door locks that are extra strong

    If you have any questions let me know. I have had this one for three years and its been all over the country already.

    Thanks, ya the more and more I'm looking I think one exactly like you have is the way to go. Aluminum would be a huge plus for me because I am not pulling with a diesel. Talkino with the wife and she agrees, so we are bumping the budget up :-)

    My only question to ya... wanna sell me your trailer? LOL

    Hey Hibs....I felt kinda bad because reading this and taking the pics gave me the incentive to put it on CL. I posted it at $2000 and it sold within an hour for $1900!
