Kimbo Slice signs with Bellator


Kimbo Slice is back.
The street brawler turned UFC fighter, who hasn’t competed in MMA since 2010, has signed a deal with Bellator. CombatPress.com first reported the news, and sources close to the situation confirmed to MMAFighting.com.
Kimbo Slice (4-2), who turns 41 in February, hasn’t fought in mixed martial arts since a second-round TKO loss to Matt Mitrione at UFC 113. His only UFC win came againstHouston Alexander at TUF 10 Finale. His other MMA wins came in stoppages overJames Thompson, David Abbott and Bo Cantrell at EliteXC.
The heavyweight fighter, who returns to American Top Team to train for his next MMA fights, went 7-0 as a professional boxer after leaving MMA in 2010. Following a successful debut in 2011, knocking out James Wade in 17 seconds, Slice stayed undefeated for his next six bouts, scoring five knockouts and one unanimous decision victory.

I just hope he has worked on checking leg kicks, because I believe that was his biggest downfall in UFC. Kimbo already has bad knees so not sure why he thought he was going to be able to come in and not check leg kicks...sure he underestimated the kicks since he was not used to the higher level of competition.

Now before the hate comes remember Kimbo was forced to go on the Ultimate Fighter to prove he has skills and did fairy well. In the UFC he did beat Houston Alexander, James Thompson, and Tank Abbott so should be interesting to see what he does in Bellator

Him taking all those leg shots from Mitrione was painful to watch. Began to feel bad for him, he was clearly outmatched. Perhaps he will do better at the Bellator level.

Right! Was one of the worst fights I have seen where a guy got beat down by leg kicks. Same with you I felt bad for the guy as at times you could tell he could barely stand. I remember seeing a interview with him a bit prior to that fight and he was saying how he does not check leg kicks as they do not affect him. Matt Mitrione must have heard this and decided to teach him a lesson....Matt seems like a cool and funny guy too.

Overall I've heard he is a super nice guy and on The Ultimate Fighter I thought he was really good guy and more people should give him a chance as he looks like a crazy guy, but actually seemed humble and quiet.

Kimbo is up there, but he is 40. Randy is 51 and had his last fight in about 2011, so guess that would have made him 47 when he last fought.

Although Randy started late and didn't have his first pro MMA fight till 1997; so he was about 34 when he started....yet he was wrestling all his life though. I've read Randy's book too; guy got stuck in the Armed Forces and that is why he started so late.
