    Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack

    Information here. http://www.pikespeakairstripattack.com/

Anyone planning on entering this? They are allowing motorcycles to enter this year.
I am thinking about it. It would be cool to see what speeds I can get in a standing and 40mph roll 1/2 mile drag race without worrying about deer, gravel, traffic, and cops.

I wouldn't mind, but I skipped last years, just looked hugely commercial and not about locals or amateurs. But I could be convinced.

It sounds fun! I wish it had more information, I wouldn't mind entertaining myself doing that.

What information are you looking for?

I am on the fence about this. I don't care about racing other bikes side by. I'd love to go up against some of the high horsepower cars but they won't allow bikes vs car racing.

Could be interesting. Just for shits and giggles. Some good eye candy I'm sure of.

To expensive for an event that is uncomparable to any other land speed event (which are 1 mile)... they don't allow you to race against cars... you can't compete in the roll race shootout.... so basically it's pay hundreds of dollars for a a few half mile blasts, most likely a solo run. NO THANKS.

I have a nice spot you can do a 1/2 mile sprint at, no gravel, no deer, no traffic. I will even let you use my GPS for free.

You can compete against other bikes only from a stop or roll. You can compete in the roll race shootout but only against other bikes. If I could race other cars I would be all over this but since that isn't allowed I will probably just spectate. There were a few cars last year able to break 200 mph in the 1/2

Yes, you have that correct. But limiting entries to 100 vehicles, how many bikes do you think there will be? My guess, not many.

Maybe once they do an event or two with bikes there insurance will see that no one has attempted a double backflip and allow bikes vs cars.

I want to try out your 1/2 mile. I need some start practice though. Sounds fun as hell!

Easiest way is to just do a roll start, like 30-40mph. Then you can focus on body position, tuck, shifting, etc... then once you get comfortable, you can practice drag style launches from a dead stop if you want. But I usually just do roll starts when I'm trying to work on top speed stuff. Your max speed doesn't care how well you launched.

Weather this weekend looks descent, I could take ya out there.
