Plus if they are going to make a GSXR Telephonica edition as least offer something more than only a paintjob. Love you Sully, but never understood why people would by a "special" edition that was only a paintjob.

And yes I feel same way about the Repsol Honda and I am even a Honda guy.

You can hate on GSXR's all you want, I don't give a F ... cuz I love my bike.. Bought her new, has a shit ton of miles on her and there are only about 3 others like her around (original not aftermarket plastics)... How many of you can say that you've had a bike that long, kept it in good condition (ie. not wadding it up) that didn't look like every other black, blue or red bike out there .. ??

Would never happen...would not spend more for a unique paintjob....but that is just me Sully. Don't worry Sasha gets mad at me when I tell him the same about his Repsol.

Not hating at all and pretty cool you still have that bike....and you are 100% correct, not many could say that.

I seriously don't think that I paid extra for the LE paint scheme, but who knows.. if so, it wasn't more than a few hundred If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely.. who likes being sheep? People still recognize my bike and know it's me

I feel you; hate having the same as everyone else; just have never bought a brand new bike.

Doubt there was another one like my old Honda (of course Devaclis gets the credit, but I bought it because it was so unique)

Some people hated it and some loved it; like you I didn't give a shit......,my baby was super fast and reliable

Dude!! are you high? I'm all gixxer, all the time. Unless it's an R1, R1's are a close 2nd in my book. However, with GSX-R's still around, I'll be rocking one for a long time.

Really? Hell I'd gladly pay a few extra quid for a Repsol, Telefonica, Cresent, Playstation, or Fiat paint scheme. I think the reason people buy a special edition paint scheme, is mainly because of it's their love for that specific bike. I'm not a Honda fan at all, however I am a Repsol fan. I'd rock a Repsol Honda any day of the week. I just love the orange wheels, the Repsol labeling, etc.

Something about repli-racers that just looks badass to me. To me they are just different from every other bike on the road. That's why I really liked the Black R1's when they came out. You just didn't see very many of them. Lots of Blue, white and even the old red(04-05) R1's running around. Same with Honda and Kawasaki. I mean dammit!! If you have a Kawi it has to be Kawi Green!! Or some other loud Kawi color. Suzuki is the same, can't mistake the tried and true Blue and White. So when you see others with different schemes it just makes for more variety.

My take on a old M1(04 MotoGP year)

Most "special edition" bikes are nothing but cosmetic bullshit, there's really no more HP or anything specific unless you step into the Italian/British bikes.

Oh I know that it's all cosmetic. I think anyone who buys one thinking it had more hp or cooler parts just isn't informed about the bike.

The only bike I would've paid the extra for is the 50th Anniversary LE R1, now that thing was sexy as all hell and all kinds of ohlins goodies, Marchesini lightweight wheels, just a rare beauty.

Re: Are people out riding yet?

I had the limited 03 blue CBR. Meh. The only bonus was that most people thought it was a r6 with a undertail.

But to be honest I'm done with the big four. I'm really leaning to the KTM these days. Street and dirt. I'm really debating this decision as I'm really leaning to the rc8. That thing is just.... Omfg.

The RC8R is a serious piece of machinery, haven't ridden dirt bikes and don't like them to be honest but someday maybe

You buy your bike based on looks and performance. If you like the look of the special edition more, I dont see why you wouldn't want to pay a little extra for your desired color scheme.

That's true, at the time the Gixxer 1K ruled supreme. My personal preference on looks is that the 01-02, 03-04 gsxr 1000's look the best, followed close by the 05-06 models. After that I lost a lot of interest in what they looked like.

That being said, I like the 01-02's front the best, with the 03-04 body and tail the best.
