It's not a big effect, but it does have to be accounted for. The change in the wavelength divided by the (rest) wavelength is the relative speed divided by the speed of light. 31,000 mph is about 8 miles per second. The speed of light is about 186,000 miles per second. So, you can see that the effect is not huge, but it is certainly measurable.Originally Posted by rybo
