    Ducati demo ride

    http://www.faymyers.com/event_list_d...ch&inputpage=1

I'll be there Friday morning as I have to pick up some brake pads for the SF, anyone else going? Shooting for the Panigale and the Hypermotard. Does anyone know if it's better to RSVP? Been wanting to do this for a while but could never due to either being under age or couldn't make it when they were there

Sorry, I am a little late to this. The RSVP is just to say you will be there, signing up for specific bikes at specific times is done on the day of the ride. You can sign up for multiple bikes throughout the day. Since you found the list you have seen that there is a 899 Panigale available but the 1299 will be for viewing only.

I imagined they wouldn't have the beast out cause how many people would be able to handle 1300cc on a lightweight bike lol... I can settle for the 899. I probably only will have time to ride one since I have to be at work at 2 pm

That was a lot of fun, worth it going out there this morning. Rode the 899 Pani and the Hypermotard, call me crazy but lIke the Hyper more ... wanted to ride the Diavel but have to head into work early. If you plan on doing this tomorrow be there around 8ish or else it'll be a long wait. They also have the scrambler FYI

Dude that bike is such a blast! Extremely torquey and so easy to toss around. My only disadvantage is that I have to get one cheek over or else I can't reach the ground ... people had a good laugh yesterday when we got back from the 2nd ride, don't care how goofy I look, just love riding!

The hyper is cool - got to ride a buddy's down indie pass after he crashed... and it was snowing... not quite the same thing but..

But seriously, they're way fun bikes - I got my Multi by looking at the Hyper first. Only downside with the hyper is the tiny 3 gallon fuel tank -- you can buy an aftermarket one that's 6 gallons.

    Re: Ducati demo ride

I rode the Hypermotard, the Monster and the Deviale on Friday. Got caught in the rain on the Deviale in the afternoon, but it was still fun.

My favorite was the Monster. In second gear, that bike pulled harder than anything I had ever ridden before.

The Ducati people told me that the Deviale is the second-fastest accelerating vehicle on the planet (behind a Bugati Veyron) - but the Monster still felt stronger. Maybe I should have revved it harder. (?)

And technically the fastest 0-60 production car is the 918 Spyder at 2.3 secs which took the Veyron's SS title, he also said the Diavel did under 3 seconds and that's a lie cause the fastest time recorded is 3.2 secs, so just right there he's wrong.

    Re: Ducati demo ride

Make sure you ask how to operate the electronics. I've never ridden anything with it and didn't know what mode I was in, and assumed you weren't allowed to change it anyway. Turns out there was no rule against changing it and I was stuck in "Urban" mode the whole ride, which turns out is about the lowest level there is. The Hyper I rode was a turd and I was totally unimpressed because of this. I didn't find out until after the ride and I unfortunately didn't have time for any other rides.

    Re: Ducati demo ride

The Panigale was in race mode at start up on the first ride and the Hypermotard was in sport mode... why did you think it was a turd?

    Re: Ducati demo ride

I rode the Monster 1200s (the Panigale was booked) and played with the different modes. Didn't really notice much difference between Sport, Tour(?) and Urban. It was all pretty mild 2nd/3rd gear stuff so I don't know how much difference you could feel. I caught a light and got to play catch up once. It was OK but didn't blow me away. Might have been just not knowing the sweet spot. Loved the gearbox, hated the seat.

    Re: Ducati demo ride

Because "Urban" mode makes it a turd. The lead rider said that mode cuts HP in half or something like that. It had no power at all. I pinned it every chance I got and it barely got out of it's own way. Unfortunate, because I'm sure that is not what that bike is capable of if it wasn't neutered by the computer.

    Re: Ducati demo ride

I think in addition to cutting the HP Urban mode also slows throttle response. There was one time I thought I was in too high a gear and dropped it one. Maybe that was Urban mode.

    Re: Ducati demo ride

It definitely changed throttle response, that was the first thing I noticed. Reving it would take a 1/4 throttle turn to get it to respond. No time to do anymore rides tomorrow, too many chores, plus I may show up for an abbreviated version of the season kick-off ride.

    Re: Ducati demo ride

I was there most of the day on Friday. I rode the Hyper at 10, then the Monster at 11, and I came back at 2 for the Deviale. (I also went across the street to Jabo's Barbecue for lunch - and it was very good.)

Every time we got back from a ride, I would go in and sign up for a different bike.

    Re: Ducati demo ride

I will give another recommendation for Jabo's, it is about the best barbecue (or Bar-Be-Q as Jabo writes it) I have had. It's not cheap but you get your moneys worth as the portions are huge.
