Honda RC213V-S will cost you $184,000

    OMG, the price is ridiculous.

    From the article:
The RC213V is a machine exclusively for racing that has won consecutive championships in the MotoGP class of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix (hereinafter called "MotoGP") in 2013 and 2014. Honda has made changes to some of the specifications of the RC213V, and will now introduce this as the RC213V-S. It is possible to ride the RC213V-S on public roads, and Honda will start accepting order entry for this new model on July 13, 2015.

Why even offer it in the states without an option of the race package? 101hp, that's just dumb.

Re: Honda RC213V-S will cost you $184,000

The 80's called, they want their mirrors back.

In the US market, the Honda RC213V-S will be tuned for 101hp at 8,000 rpm (66 lbs•ft of torque) — a figure the bike will be stuck at, since the sport kit is not available to the US market. In Europe and Australia, the RC213V-S will make a still disappointing 157hp at the 11,000 rpm-spinning crank, but with the sports kit installed, that figure will get bumped to over 210hp at 13,000 rpm. Peak torque is set at 75 lbs•ft at 10,500 rpm, with the sports kit lifting that figure to over 87 lbs•ft.

Why even bother to produce a "super" bike with those kinds of numbers? BMW and Kawasaki will be laughing their way to the bank. Just like with their new NSX, Honda will produce a technical marvel with no soul. Too late to the game, son.

Pretty good price, considering you get 90% of a MotoGP bike for a fraction of the $1.2M that the real bikes cost.

I'm guessing that if you have the means to drop 180k on a motorcycle, you have the means to get yourself a sport kit from Australia delivered to your door by an authentic Aborigine tribesman.

This sets a new standard, I thought $75,000 for the Ducati Desmosedici was too much...

Hell if I had that kind of disposable income, I'd get a Kawasaki H2 for the street, an H2R for serious track play, and piss away the remaining $100K on hookers and coke.

Re: Honda RC213V-S will cost you $184,000

Here is the official information on the "Sports kit" parts list:
    -Engine control unit
    -Fr air duct
    -Exhaust muffler
    -AI joint cover set
    -Spark plug
    -Loadcell type quick shifter
    -Gear shift drum (reverse)
    -Data logger set
    -Rr cushion connecting rod
    -Fr brake pad
    -Fr brake lever remote adjuster
    -Thermostat set
    -Sprocket set
    -Clutch guard (CFRP)
    -Fr cowl under cover
    -Fr winker hole plug
    -Seat back rubber
    -Lower cowl drain cap
    -Harness modification set
    -Fr/Rr maintenance stand
    -Indoor machine cover

101hp at 8,000 rpm?!?!?! The sport kit is not available to the U.S. market. I am sure if you can buy a bike for the cost of a home loan then you can get your hands on a sport kit.
I understand that Honda did not want to modify the exhaust and other aspects to meet DOT/EPA restrictions so instead they just restrict the engine load but this just seems like a joke.

I can't find a link but I thought you could buy used/like new CRT bikes for about this price as well.

Re: Honda RC213V-S will cost you $184,000

From what I read, the sports kit will restrict the bike to closed-circuit use only. I know the front air duct, at least, takes back the place being occupied by the headlights. The race exhaust will put that bike back to being obscenely loud, though that's not really a detractor for most of us, just stay away from downtown.
