    Ducati experts, need your help...

So my bike just randomly stalled out on me on my way to work, no CEL, nothing abnormal went on at the time when it just decided to stall out. No smoking, nothing. Just filled up too, does have oil. Anyone have this problem before? Doing some research online but can't find anything on this. Try to start it and just cranks but no go, 2010 1098 SF

You could have put too much gas in it. Duck's don't like it when you don't give them room to breathe.

    Siphon some gas maybe.

I filled it to the point where I always do about 1/4 inch before the neck top anf never had a problem so kind of weird. I'm waiting for the tow truck right now but sure hope it's something simple. Good to know this for next time, thanks Tom.

    Damir,

I don't know if this applies to the 1098 era of bikes, but on the older bikes there was an internal hose on the fuel pump (inside the tank) that was known for blowing off and causing fuel starvation.

The simple test was to open the gas cap and key the switch to make the fuel pump cycle.

If you see a lot of turbulence then the hose may have come off and it's worth taking apart for further investigation.

    Good luck

Dont know about the stall, but Duc/Aprilia are notorious about undersizing the starting cables and with an older battery that can lead to starting problems. I would check the power and grounds on the battery/starter/stator. Buddy with a 748 had an in-tank fuel line go bad recently and that caused the same issues you have, so also check there. Fuses all look good?

All cables and fuses are good, the crank is strong as usual but just won't turn over. Seems more like a sensor or something of that sort

Re: Ducati experts, need your help...

So my next question is this, there is an actual recall on the 1098r for the same issue but not the 1098SF per se, there is an injector clip deal recall. Would Ducati cover the cost of this repair given its somewhat related and it is a safety issue? Any way to be able to get ahold of corporate on this issue? I'm really concerned given that if I was in the middle of a turn I would've ate shit and hard.

I'll be out for round 7 at PPIR.

No repayment required, if you want to do something give the beer (or equivalent gift) to the Cornerworker appreciation day.

    Look forward to seeing you.

I know the exact problem, it's because you were talking to me about getting an R1. Those Italians are a jealous bunch.

Re: Ducati experts, need your help...

Just so everyone knows there is a recall on this issue for several Ducati models, so call the dealer and have them check your VIN to make sure this isn't an issue.Given the bike completely cuts off, you don't want to be in that position leaning in a turn. I was upright and almost got hit by a lady in a Mustang who also happened to be a little too close anyways when the bike cut off.
