    IMI track condition?

How are the track conditions at IMI? I just moved to Thornton and it's pretty close to me, and it looks like a GREAT track for my SV650...

But the only Youtube video of the track makes it look like there are a lot of bumps and tar snakes... is it that bad? Is its borderline dangerous? Can you lose traction in the corners?

Also, are the crowds bad? I know its shared with the karts, but for as cheap as it is, I'm worried that it may bring in larger crowds on nice days...

It's not usually crowded but it is a lot of fun for a big kart track. The surface isn't especially great but it's fine and it'll help you get used to the bike moving around. I would definitely buy a sumo if I lived close by as you can get a unlimited use pass for the same price as a ski pass.

Asphalt is fine at IMI, there are just a couple spots to watch for with the tar snakes.

That track is pretty kick ass for the money you pay and the kind of improvements you can do to your riding. Once you have a couple laps in you'll know what little areas to avoid and what lines to take. You'll be fine

Do you need to drain your coolant and tape up your light? Do you need full leathers?

No, although not recommended, the minimum gear is helmet, jacket and gloves.

    no bike prep.

IMI is badass, although the SV really a bit too big for it - you probably won't get out of 2nd gear. However, that doesn't mean you won't have fun, and the dirt and tar snakes make it that much more challenging. After a session or two, there won't be much to worry you on the public roads. I love going to IMI, just no time...

Also, don't forget the dirt road leading into it...

Ok. I feel a bit better about it now. I don't mind the lower speed of the track. I actually prefer switchbacks to sweepers anyway.

And thanks for the video, Slo. The gyrocam makes it look much safer than the others i've watched.

Are there car ports there? or do y'all just bring a canopy...?

No car ports, gotta bring your own generator for warmers if you need and canopy for shade

Check their website calendar and avoid the weekends with cart races..... During the week you may have the track to yourself for a good chunk of the day.

We ride dirt out there during the week often and its a ghost town usually. Last Tuesday there were 8 cars total for most of the day at IMI. Most of those were on the dirt tracks.

I am with Spooph, I love IMI.

I go there on many weekends, usually bring out 5'ish people. But once in a while I bring out around 50 haha or more.

Guess the SV wont be too bad based off that pic... considering there's a 'busa in that mix. haha.

Can you even ride the cart track at Bandimere? It looks tiny...
