    Deals Gap Trip

Anyone interested in renting a sprinter van and heading out to Deals Gap in July? Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, Fontana Dam, all excellent riding. AMA Vintage Moto Days is July 8-10 at Mid-Ohio, so thinking about hitting that first. 1305 m. to Lexington, OH; 480 m. to Tellico Plains, TN (where Cherohala begins). Leave on Thursday, hit up VMD on Saturday, jet down to Deals Gap on Sunday.

Fun trip and great riding! While you're out east, take a loop to the Barber Museum on the way home.

Are you only spending one day at "The Gap" area?

    Sounds like an interesting trip.

Seen Barber track and museum, and it is beautiful. Birmingham is real nice in general but WAY too hot in the summer. My brother lives in Mooresville and is meeting me in Robbinsville. We'll spend a couple of days exploring as this is his first trip to Deals (hard to believe living that close!).

Definitely a worth while way to spend a few days... Get out early to avoid the Hardleys. Also, watch out for the mowers. The last day I was on the dragon, they were mowing the shoulders. I came around a corner right into a bunch of clippings all over the road... The bike stepped out, but didn't go down. It was definitely a pucker moment and the end of that day.
Do not put off living the life you dream of. Next year may never come. If we are always waiting for something to change...
Retirement, the kids to leave home, the weather or the economy, that's not living. That's waiting!
Waiting will only leaves us with unrealized dreams and empty wishes.

Perhaps if it was different time of year I'd be down. But I'm planning on going to the Loring 1 and 1.5 mile land speed race in Maine, July 13th-17th.

    Re: Deals Gap Trip

Yeah, if we get enough people with trailers/spots for our bikes then we could take a single other truck for passengers/something uber efficient like my VW TDI Cup Edition but would also be fun to drive the dragon with in case of inclement weather
